programming or scripting? more professionals use programming mainly in their applications; scripting just accompanies it.

JavaScript, C+, C++, and Lua are good for starters. You can't do as much with Python, so stay away from it.

the best way, I think, is taking some sort of programming class at school, preferable in a real class as part of your schedule
it keeps you focused and a teacher will know how to teach. I find that when I tried to learn programming on my own time, I got distracted and never got far. I loved my programming classes last year and I'm taking ap comp sci this year, my teacher is really awesome. |
