Not just the ROBLOX staff, and not just the developers. The players benefit from these events too.
In order to understand why, you can't focus on just this single current point in time. Because if that's all you're looking at, then of course it's easy to say "wow, these events aren't as fun as before, there's no way they're benefiting us!"
The developer-made sponsored events do have their own benefits for ROBLOX as a whole; they're just not immediately visible to people. They don't have a *direct* positive impact that people can see, and this is why they're so negatively received. But sponsorships do provide ROBLOX with extra revenue, and they allow ROBLOX to do more things that benefit the platform:
- Hire more ROBLOX staff - Focus on making new features for the game client, ROBLOX Studio, etc. - Invest in things like more servers and better technology
All of those things create a better experience for all of us! Yes, we lose traditional events of the past, but the actual ROBLOX platform as a whole is improved as a result.
Even if you yourself see no use in the features that are being put out, developers certainly do. And with these new features, developers will be able to create better gameplay experiences for you all, the players, to enjoy. As ROBLOX improves on the engine more, overall game quality will increase. You have to agree that ROBLOX has been getting much better games in 2015 compared to previous years.
SUMMING IT ALL UP: It's important to think about the long-term impacts that these events have, not just the immediate things that you see from them right away. In the long run, they are beneficial to ROBLOX as a whole. The traditional events were certainly fun, but they didn't provide any real benefits to ROBLOX. They were just a few weeks of fun, then they were over with. They didn't truly help ROBLOX much at all - little monetary gain, few lasting benefits, and lost time for the staff members that had to work on the event.
The current events are much more beneficial; not because of the immediate experience that they provide, but because of how they benefit ROBLOX as a whole later down the road. If you want to see ROBLOX improve, then you should be happy for them being able to generate more and more revenue from sponsorships to improve the platform and aid the creation of better games.
If the events really had such a negative impact as you think they do, ROBLOX wouldn't be running them in this format anymore.
(Also, because I know someone's going to ask "why couldn't the Games Team just do their job??"): The "Games Team" consisted of employees who already had other responsibilities at the company. They were not hired to create games for ROBLOX; they were hired for other purposes. And when they were tasked with creating games, that means they were taken away from their main jobs. That was not an efficient way for them to do the events. The current way is much more efficient.
(Also, at the people who will accuse me of writing this because of developer bias): Honestly, the only reason I'm making this post is to try to calm the storm and help people understand the reasoning behind these events. Whether I were a developer or not, the points that I've made here would still hold true. I just don't like to see people get so angry about something without understanding the complete impact of the decision. |

| So stupid events that make no sense and aren't fun overall help people like you and Roblox get better at making things. That's wonderful. I'm sure most players would rather just have a fun event that lasts for a bit rather than this "overall benefit." |

Since people clearly didn't read the post, let me re-iterate:
- More money generated from sponsorships = better features for ROBLOX
- Better features = developers are able to make better games
- Better games = a more fun experience for ROBLOX's players
The ROBLOX games made in 2015 have been much better than in years past, you can't deny this.
This post isn't saying that The Good Dinosaur Bloxgiving event is amazing. It's meant to explain what benefits these sponsored events provide later down the road. |

@Cin
Congrats to the dumbe-Wait, let me stop. The mods might beat me up for being mean to their precious gem.
Also, you are stupid to think that is the only way Roblox can get money. Either way, without sponsors they can still be financially stable. |

| I understood exactly what your post meant. I'm still saying it's a bad way to do things. It would be better to spend time making fun, memorable events. Players will enjoy it and encourage them to continue to play Roblox. With all this outrage over boring/no effort events, don't you think that Roblox loses more players that get mad? Just saying. |
