A series of writing, not a new RP series, by my current plans. It'll be loosely based on a series of stories I did back in early 2014, called Realm of Ferilor, named after a creator deity in that universe. It's basically a long and convoluted history of a generic fantasy world starting from the very creation and just going on ad infinitum. I could only find the links to five of them, but I wrote about twenty chapters about the warring between members of the Council of Six, and I think that I kinda began to fizzle out with the death of a member of the Council of Six, but I had plans that stretched tens of thousands of years into the future.
http://forum.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=124353496 is the last installment in the seres I could find, and I put the links to each of the previous ones in that. I recommend clicking on them and reading them in the order in which I wrote them if you want to see some old writing from nearly two years ago, but please stay away from the comments as I was a very different person back then. Also, at the very bottom of the first installment I mentioned another series I was writing called Falcon; if you were wondering, it was a series about a mass-murdering vigilante that got only one installment but was yet another thing that I based my recent and failed ISRP Vigilante on.
Anyway, you may be wondering what made me suddenly remember a creation myth that I wrote about two thousand years of before the idea fizzled out two years ago. Well, first, the idea never really left my mind. Those of you that were in my Winterpond D&D campaign a year ago (the one I'm rebooting) may remember Ferilor as the name of the barkeep; that was me reusing an old name for a new project, an occurrence that happens with regularity for me.
I've had creation myths on my mind for years (Siege of Dorthol was eventually going to have prequels dating back to the dawn of time), but what finally motivated me to make an interest check was a ridiculously awful and factually incorrect youtube video that appeared as a suggested video because I like watching things about history. If you haven't seen Spirit "Science" talk for an hour about their version of what our history "really" is (Space Jews!), I won't supply the links, but they have lots of subscribers and it's their most watched video, so you should be able to find it easily. Anyway, watching that very obviously fictitious account of world history made me remember just how fun it is to write a fictional history, and as such, I'm posting this interest check.
I'm still deciding whether to do a complete reboot of Realm of Ferilor or if I should do a new world with a similar high-fantasy theme, but whatever I do choose to do, it would still have some strong differences from the very original one. Although I do quite like the idea that I used with the Council of Six, maybe I'll reuse it...
Also, in case you're wondering where all the installments in that series that I couldn't find are, lots are on ROBLOX but I know I wrote some that I didn't post; those I lost two laptops ago.

Mario, the point is to make it long and convoluted with no real ending in sight aside from "big battle, everyone dies".

"no real ending in sight aside from "big battle, everyone dies"."
Actually, that won't be the end either; I'd find some convoluted way to keep the story going.

"Not a single person Tim"
That's a bit harsh. Do you have a reason for not wanting me to write this, or are you just joining onto the presumed bandwagon?

"Not a bandwagon when I'm the only person in it."
The way you worded your statement indicates that you think that literally everyone else will agree with you, meaning that you assume in advance that not wanting this idea would be a bandwagon. Regardless, you still haven't stated your reason for not wanting me to write this, which I'd value a lot more than an argument over whether you implied that you thought there would be a bandwagon or not.

Anyway, back on topic, I'll put up a chapter or an issue or an episode or whatever of the new series sometime on the weekend so that people could better judge for themselves whether they like it or not.

Jeez, I'm beginning to think that the later installments of Land of Ferilor just disappeared.

When America gets a rugby league.
Nevermind, that happened earlier today. Maybe sometime on one of the upcoming weekends; I'll repost Siege of Dorthol by Christmas.

So I take it that there's not much interest in this series? I'll write an issue or two to let people react to that, and if I get the same lack of anything as this interest check got on those I'll drop the project and move onto something else, probably.

>I'd find some convoluted way to keep the story going.
Are you one of those people who liked the last two Matrix movies? You don't need to keep a story going when you're done writing the story. A truly marvelous story, a story worthy of being called a classic, is never done saying what it needs to say, even after the writer has written the final mark of punctuation. Continuing on-and-on with a story when it should've ended long ago is the best way to kill anything good you might've built up. |
