The Day the Lion Awoke
Remember Remember, the sixth of November….
The room erupted in sounds of cheering and general enjoyment. Arenirian folk, both Dreygon and Ravenpoint, gathered together in the infamous ‘B&H’ Pub. Earlier this morning waves and waves of new recruits flooded into the Sovereignty, pushing Arenir’s population to new lengths. Like a true Arenirian, everyone went to celebrate with dancing, drinks, and some good ol’ hide and seek.
Outside it was an endless storm, with treacherous waves crashing upon the coast of the old port. High speed winds, throwing small trees and loose objects across the land, could be heard. Yet, the laughing and carrying on continued. It has been a great day for the nation.
Down at the Legal District, the Green Jackets patrolled. Commanders and soldiers of the Arenirian elite made preparations for potential invasion. Reports had come in from the fleets that enemy vessels were sailing the seas around Arenir’s vicinity. In the minds and heart of each individual Arenirian, one question was in mind:
Was today the day?
Many have doubted it ever happening, yet some had faith since day one. What was it that has been eating away at them for so long? Would their hopes finally come true? Will the unfaithful be punished? Some wanted it to be true, some wanted today to be the day that the Lion awoke.
It had been a fable to many, that it would ever actually happen. To both those outside of Arenir, and some even inside. Some feared they would face the Lion’s wrath if they chose not to believe in it. Some believed they would be rewarded with the highest of praise for sticking to their beliefs for so long. This time of supposed judgement was coming quick, and with ferocity.
The morning of the sixth was a busy one. The Arenirian high command were running around preparing the general population and Green Jackets for imminent invasion. Warships had been spotted closing in on the Legal District, perhaps targeting the great Manor that stuck out so well from the island.
The wall of lights were tested, whale oil was being transported back and forth the streets. If you were to observe from the rooftops, you would see great activity as the nation prepared itself.
But nothing could prepare them for what else was to come.
As time passed, as armaments were gathered, fleets set to engage, Green Jackets ready on multiple fronts to fire, Paragons barking orders, Paramounts observing from the Manor, a great and mighty roar was heard across the District.
In a matter of microseconds, all activity halted. Whale oil was spilled across the streets as the soldiers and crews froze in fear, of respect. Cannon balls rolled from the hands of the trembling, bags of sand ripped open from the sheer force of the roar, in the distance you could hear a rifle fall from a rooftop of a sniper post.
The day of reckoning was upon them.
The Pub grew quiet in an instant. The roar was so loud, it quieted the storm for the brief moment it was made. Patrons, Benefactors and Arenirian’s alike looked at each other with great concern, some with disbelief. The sounds of glass shattering and bottles erupting from were heard, and chairs tipping over as everybody gathered in the main room.
A brave Paramount took the stage. He looked across the room as he set the microphone on its stand, sucking in copious amounts of air into his lungs, beads of sweat dripping down his cheekbones. The audience was in no better state; Some looked eager, most looked terrified. In one fluid motion, the Paramount switched on the mic and spoke:
“The Lion has awoken.”
It had only been ten minutes since the roar occurred, and activity was slowly starting to take motion once again at Legal. The Green Jackets were rushed back into positions, as the general population including Watch Officers were rushed away by the Paramounts.
Supreme order from the Lord Paramount was made. All Arenirian Command members as well as Arenirian’s were to report to the Monastery immediately. The Green Jackets were ordered to prepare for enemy invasion.
Down at the Monastery, the Lord Paramount waited. He knew this day was coming soon, and it couldn’t have been at a more perfect time. He gathered his top commanders and officers in the small boardroom within the Monastery.
With great confidence, he briefed them of what was to come. With the Lion’s awakening, Arenir was destined to grow ten times as strong, to grow massively in population, and to cast its sights upon other nations for war. Outside of this boardroom waited hundreds of faithful and unfaithful Arenirians in the great hall. They anticipated the announcement, and a great murmuring was made, in speculation of the coming events.
The Lord Paramount made two last things clear before he sent them out to the hall. A great invasion is to come, and the Legal District is going to be under heavy fire.
Those in the Monastery’s Great Hall silenced at the sight of the Arenirian high command filing out of the boardroom and taking their seats. The Lord Paramount took the stage in front of the hundreds of Arenirians. Not a drip of sweat, nor twinge of anxiety was found in him; He was ready. He stepped up, and gave his speech:
Arenirians, the time for our reckoning is upon us. The great Lion has awoken, his mighty roar CASTED across the nation, his POWERFUL claws outstretched. It is with great haste I bring you this message that we are to be his claws.
War will be upon us imminently. With his great roar came the prophetic words of invasion, both against us, and from us. Our great nation is at risk, our territory is being watched, at once we must bear arms, bear the Lion’s claws, and fight for what is rightfully ours.
The Lion has spoken to me in such a way I cannot explain. Yet, it was very important and excellent news that I will cease to hold back from you lot. All those that were both faithful and unfaithful will be saved. All those pledging their lives to the Lion will receive good judgement, and will be expected to continue serving regardless of their past belief.
With that said, brothers! Are you ready, to defend our great nation? Are you ready to show what the Lion is made of? Bear arms! We will be deploying to defend the Legal District as soon as possible.
For the Lion!
Great amounts of activity enraged through the Legal District’s streets and ports. Four massive transport ships docked onto the beaches, delivering hundreds of Arenirian’s armed to the teeth, from the Pub and from the Monastery. Arenirian’s poured out of their homes, their work places, and set up on their rooftops. War was approaching fast, and every last one of them were ready to take on their enemy.
Men and women lined up on Holger Street, working together to fill ammunition into magazines, polishing their rifles, passing whale oil canisters from person to person to their destinations. Conversation was kept to a minimum unless it was about the war or their organization efforts. Green Jacket platoons patrolled up and down the connecting streets, Watch Officers sat and oversaw the oil transportation, Exemplars ensured the good relations between the houses, Legates and Paragons drew battle plans at a large table at the Manor, and the Lord Paramount and his highest of staff sat in the Manor in anticipation.
It was truly an incredible sight to see. How a day changed so quickly, how the attitudes of hundreds that feared the Lion, now working together in unison to act as his claws.
Finally, in the distance, multiple enemy warships could be seen. Alarms were raised, people scrambled to prepare for their first encounter. Soldiers rushed to the Holger St port and lied in wait for the enemy to arrive.
In the distance, the warships paused. Through scopes, it could be seen that the enemy had begun to transport their troops into smaller vessels. A land invasion was recognized, and the major cannons were set aside. Small arm weaponry was loaded, Officers loaded clips into their pistols, and took aim to the coming storm of adversaries.
Without warning, the vessels touched the banks of sand, and deployed their troops. Hell broke loose as gunpowder filled the air and orders were barked. Oil was ignited and thrown, canvassing the beach in fire, yet the enemies still poured onto the port.
The fighting lasted hours, and the sun was nowhere to be seen as the smoke began to settle. A great fog had formed from the firing of many guns, and burning of oils. As things began to calm down and settle, soldiers were ordered to stay at their barricades, and Green Jacket operatives were sent to investigate the beaches. The body count was immense. The beach was littered with the Lion’s enemies, scraps of their vessels floated in mass around the port. The warships in the distance were surrounded by Arenirian fleets. The enemy refused to identify themselves, and was thus captured in large quantities. The conflict was finished, and Arenir came out victorious.
Very few Arenirian casualties were made, their defenses proved strong. Those that had passed in combat were praised for their loyalty and strength. Ceremonies were made, the dead rested knowing they were honoured.
The Arenirian Command grew ever so confident of their military that day. Their capabilities in defending their territory was immense. As quickly as the conflict had finished, they made preparations for their own retaliations. Fleets were formed, armies gathered, soldiers trained.
To this day, Arenir has yet to be defeated. Its armies train day and night, perfecting the art of combat, communication, and teamwork. Everyone remembered this day as,
The Day the Lion Awoke

I wish it was like when you describe when the soldiers hide behind barricades when thebraiders came in
If that happened all the raids would be a fail |

@Matt
Well all the official raids we kicked ass.
The only raids won against was an ESR by SCR. |

| Most people don't realize at Legal that "000000000" means unofficial raid code. |

that doesn't really imply few of you die does it?
i wasnt there because irl stuff but i would say a better description would be "after a long day of gruesome fighting in the streets, the Sovereignty prevailed. Their flag stood tall and proud despite the losses inflicted... etc" |
