they really don't take much effort to build/script, but it does take skill to create environments that the players can relate to while roleplaying.
it also takes knowledge of the player to learn what tools should be given to the player to help them create their ideal role.
the players on the other hand are cringeworthy.
most roleplayers are edgy pre-pubescent children who say they are 15-18 and get into romances just to annoy everyone around them. most roleplayers don't have the skills to improv, and they almost always break the golden rule: don't say no.

lmao that doesn't apply to roleplaying, but you're right about most roleplayers on roblox being bad at it. |

"dont say no" is a rule that many improvisation-like productions use, as everyone should be able to bring up something new into the story without being backed down just because someone else doesnt like that idea.
sure, you could say you block an attack, but wouldnt it be more interesting and progress the story if you were hit by that attack and would have to engage in trying to seek help/crawl away?

@Helloburp
well, in role playing its different from improv because in improv the goal is to entertain a lot of people, but really people who dodge/block everything are annoying and stupid tbh, its not that you should "never" say no, just don't say it often. |

except they are similar in the fact that you are trying to create a storyline without a script, and since these roleplay games are "games", everyone is supposed to have fun. not denying most of what people say will make the game more fun for everyone.

I understand how people would like to step out of their body and pretend to be someone else for a while, but I personally prefer games where you run around then shoot and stab things

the games themselves can be extraordinary at times, take atf for example: it's a great map and they got cool stuff
the game rpers are usually noobs and trolls, though. it's hard to find someone who's good at it.
there is a notorious tendency for the forum rpers to think they're way better, way less noobish, and way more experienced. they're ... usually at least somewhat correct |

| I don't really play role play games that don't have an actual combat system tbh. |

@green
if a roleplay game has a free-combat system, that would open up a huge door for trollplayers to run around killing everyone and ruining everyone's time.
however, if cleverly implemented, they can be a great addition to the immersion of roleplaying.
