1940's Germany occupied multiple European states, Men and Women stayed in their countries and fought against the fascist occupiers many dying.
2015 IS occupies nearly half of Iraq and gaining ground in Syria, millions of Syrians flee leaving their country to collapse. |

Maybe the Syrians just aren't nationalist enough to defend their land. Not everyone is so thickheaded about land ownership as the Europeans.

@Plexa Thick headed? Many Jewish families owe their existence due to people risking their lives and hiding people they've never met before.
Where are the people protecting the Yazidi's and Christians in Syria and Iraq? Why is Turkey bombing the Kurdish the only ones looking out for others? |

Now that I think of it, those brave Syrian men are fleeing and leaving the women and kids to die.
So brave. |

"Thick headed? Many Jewish families owe their existence due to people risking their lives and hiding people they've never met before." Yes, this is true, but that's not my point. I'm simply saying that it was a personal choice for the Europeans to stand their ground instead of leaving their native countries.

Cultural differences? Is this meant to be an excuse? Was it cultural differences when over a million Armenians ceased to exist?
This is just Turkey ensuring there's no threats to the government which ironically is making more threats to them. |

And as everyone knows, if you have a government with that level of censorship and tyranny then you are bound to have a revolution, unless those citizens are somewhat Hobbesian stereotypes.

Yes I'm American. I might stay simply because my country is extremely nationalist. But I assure you that if I was not as patriotic as I am I would be heading to Canada with my family at the first sign of trouble haha.

The Turkish government bombed a Kurdish peace rally in Ankara and they had the guts to blame terrorists, Erdogan is the terrorist.
He allowed IS to move through Turkish territory so they could get a tactical advantage over the Kurdish soldiers. |
