Hello! Ash, here!
I have had an awesome brainwave of an idea for a game, and I think I can make it come true and hit the front page! The game will be like no other game played before. It's not a Murder game, it's not a minigame, it's not a Pay-to-win-or-grind-and-die-of-boredom game, and it is not a war game either. It's a single player story mode game, like no other seen before. Here are some of the features I plan on making and throwing into this idea.
1. There will be 2 maps based on REAL locations. West Bromwich, England, and Auckland, New Zealand. These maps can be walked on and driven over, depending on how the story goes.
2. The game will be 3rd person, with a similar camera view as to that of Assassin's Creed and GTA V, where the camera follows the player from behind.
3. Next-generation GUIs. If you want to know what I mean, take a look at Bird Simulator's GUIs. I do not intend on copying it, but a crisp, non-cluttered, useful style of GUI that looks the part is what I plan to make. I also plan on making a "Radar" GUI with a minimap on it, like on the Neighbourhood of Robloxia V5.
4. Objectives, unlike most story mode games, will not be repetitive. The game will follow out where the player plays out my real-life experiences, and a possible future, with a great ending. Objectives vary from killing people, winning sports games, winning fights, races, and reaching certain places, as well as playing as different people involved in my real life social circle.
5. Cinematics. This game will actually have cut-scenes, with proper speech as audio. Sure, it will cost a lot to implement, but wouldn't that be great? Having actual speech? Oh, and subtitles, too. Also, each character in each cutscene, as well as backgrounds, will be animated. I do not plan on lip-syncing. That would be too much, and I don't even know if that's possible.
6. Customisation. Players will be able to customise the way certain characters look with a variety of purchasable clothing using the in-game currencies. (In West Bromwich, the £ currency, and in Auckland, the $ currency). Players will also be able to colour their vehicles.
7. Next-gen animations. We all know that sometimes in Roblox games, punching and kicking animations are a bit too blocky. I will try my utmost hardest to create semi-realistic animations for every movement in game.
8. Interactive AI. I plan on adding AI cars and humans that react to the player when they walk near them. For example, they will say "Hi!" or something when you are 20 studs away and "Oi! Watch it!" when you walk into them. Cars will knock you over if you walk into them. I have not yet an idea to what happens if the player dies, but I may implement a "Restart" button on a GUI that pops up when you die, such as GTA's "Wasted" GUI. When the button is pressed the game restarts to the last bit of speech spoken before the player died, instead of having to re-do an entire mission.
9. Saving Progress will be implemented so that you don't lose anything when you die or leave the game. For examples of game saving games, check out Tradelands. Good game, that.
10. The storyline. I won't tell you about the storyline, and what happens, as that would spoil it, but I can say that the storyline will be based on my notably interesting life and possible future. There will be two endings to the game, also, that will be determined by the last mission the player plays. No spoilers.
11. Buy-able "boosts". Gamepasses will be introduced into the game so that players get certain advantages on certain missions, and can have access to special vehicles. I won't say what those vehicles will be, though. No spoilers here.
I know that this game will cost real money to develop, but I will NOT ask for donations. As it is my project, I hold myself responsible for it's development and I will not rely on the community to pay for a game so I can make it. It's just not right. I will pay every penny for the game, guaranteed.
I have not yet thought of the game's name.
Think I can do it? Say what you think in the comments! Any suggestions (no spoilers, though), please say so below! I'm posting this at 00:26am, so I better get some sleep and see what you lot have to say tomorrow. Love you all!
-Ash

| Whatever you decide to do, just do keep in mind that it's infinitely easier to make the idea than the actual thing. |

@Radioactivated I am well aware of the difficulties this game has. The phrase "Easier said than done" comes to mind, but I swear to something-or-other that this will be completed in at least 2 years.
Any suggestions/ideas/tips? Leave them below!

Woah.. Just one suggestion Couldn't you make a multiplayer campaign option your game idea is nice but wouldn't it be hard to develop the game all by yourself so you should make a Development team or something Other than that great idea |

| Sounds like a good idea to me, lag may be an issue if you plan on having a giant map. I think you should stick with single player (trollers?) |

Not a self promotion, but I have been working on a game with single/multiplayer aspects as well as story modes etc... Even though the themes of the games are very different, I know this would be a challenge especially if doing it on your own or between two people. I think you may need a larger team behind you, but be sure to keep with this idea as it could be great.
Best of luck developinig. |

This is gonna be ridiculously difficult to make. Just think about how long it took for a team of professional, full-time developers working 24/7 to make a game like GTA (which is kinda similar to what you're trying to do, right?)
I do believe that making it multiplayer would be more fun (multiple storylines set for each person, randomly generated storylines even and integrations with other storylines *gasp*). It would better harness the "community" factor of Roblox which so much of us love.
Also, I know that you've got some experience with building but none with scripting. In that case, maybe you should try out a smaller idea first (like a tycoon, fort, or some other easier-to-make game that already has tutorials and places you can check out and learn from). Alternatively, you could concentrate on building the game and get a team to help you (some of them could do the scripting parts). |

The idea is brilliant but roblox is not a platform for making professional games.Roblox is also a multiplayer platform therefore singleplayer games do not fit well on roblox so I suggest you try to change the idea to a more multiplayer expirience also since you're working alone you'll find yourself losing inspiration after some time, this is the reason most people tend to work in teams.Making big games alone is not easy especially if you're just starting out.
I'm not telling you to not make it,I'm just telling you to re-think the idea since not many story driven games run well on roblox. |

| if you end up making this do not make the maps just full maps. only make sections for the specific mission in the story so you do not lag up the game |

You probably need:
-Money -The best scripter on Roblox -The best graphics designer on Roblox -The top project organizers -Numerous builders
I will say, this is literally impossible to put it in one game. However, you can split the game modes up to many little games. |

Its a bit sad to see how miserable everyone is, and how they are quite pessimistic. The start of this thread had people like myself who recomended using a larger team, and sticking with it for the long run. These last few have started to drift into the region of it can never happen.
It is an idea that can work on roblox, it is hard, but it is possible. The overall concept is working others like myself and the guy who posted about his medieval game on this thread (sorry forgot name). If 3 different groups of people are able to bring out similar games, but all very varied it could create a trend for roblox. One we would all be very proud of. |

I've been attempting to create these as well. I have a game idea that requires these, but I don't have the funds nor the required skills to set them up. :P |

| ^It's possible to do it although it will require practice and experience as there can be similar lip syncing as people don't really notice. The simplest way is to have replacing face decals while speaking. |

Haha! Well, I asked for responses and the support and ideas I have received is rather helpful. Thank you, I love you all.
Just to clarify a few things:
1. The maps will won't be gargantuan, so worrying about huge maps lagging the server won't be necessary. If it does lag, then perhaps I will have to pay Roblox for some sort of "upgrade" when the game is finished.
2. As much as I would love to work with a team, sadly, I am on my own on this one (hence the 2-year estimated date until release).
3. Multiplayer will follow after the initial single-player story mode is released, and all bugs in the singleplayer have been patched. The Multiplayer mode will be similar to that of GTA V, where multiple players can do missions together in "parties", and maybe these missions will intertwine with another party's mission, also. The Multiplayer mode will be in a seperate place, accessable either by clicking on my profile, or clicking the Multiplayer button at the home page GUI, which will start a teleport to the Multiplayer.
4. Although this game is similar to GTA V, I have no intentions of replicating it, it's storylines, or it's flow of gameplay. Instead of referring it to "Roblox GTA V", consider it a "Ash Simulator 2018", since technically, that's what it is.
5. This game will probably take more than two years to make. I mean, look, The Neighbourhood of Robloxia V5 took 3 years, and Hexaria took 5 years, so this game will clearly take a long, long time to develop.
6. I will not use lip-syncing to aid with character voices.
Thanks for all of your ideas, and if you still have any questions, queries, concerns, jokes, musings, ideas, suggestions and what-have-you, either post it below, or message me for a direct response.
Cheers!

Until I get better at Lua, this game will not be made yet. I'm not saying it won't happen, but think this as me brainstorming and proposing ideas, and seeing what the community will think about them.
Hang tight. This game will be made, just not in the next couple of years or so. |
