throughout my entire life in alaska:
-a volcano that literally covered my city in ash in 2008
-five earthquakes that were 6.0+
-million of earthquakes that were lower than 6.0
-below 0 temperatures in winter daily with nothing but a cheap hoodie (and we don't mind it)
-thousands of blizzards
-Getting literally (I counted) 38 mosquitoes bites on me in A DAY from 5 HOURS of camping WITH MOSQUITOES REPELLENT (our mosquitoes are afraid of nothing)
-Almost running over a bunch of deer
-Seeing a moose WEEKLY on your lawn
-Seeing a bear at the park 4 times
-Eating moose meat, reindeer meat, bear meat
-going on roadtrips that literally last days
-having to waste thousands of $$$ every year on flights to visit your family in the lower 48
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY..
having to deal with the dumbest stereotypes ever:
-Do you live in igloos -So you go to school with your snowmachine? -So you go hunting for whales? -Do you have a pet polar bear? -Do you have to wear parkas all the time? -Why is it always below a hundred degrees over there?
Oh, and they're finally making a krispy kreme up here this winter |

@der
a thing I have realized is that literally no one here uses campers (unless you have a huge family driving with you) |

@bam
I travel frequently in the lower 48 to see family members and their friends and stuff, and most of the people think I actually live in some native-igloo village |
