I have started learning a bit of scripting and better building things. This is 100% by me, no FMs added: http://www.roblox.com/games/303759703/Overstrand-Learning-How-to-Script

I made the day and night cycle. Also, like I said, I was also doing a few building things that I had never done before. |

Keep this (whatever this is) up and you'll be better before you know it! Like spanish? No? Then stop, it's still learning a new language. BUUUUUT I dislike spanish class, and I still like to program so.... Depends on how committed you are. I am pretty much so, and if you are, keep it up! |

My MAIN focus ISN'T Scripting but I do intend on learning it. I have been learning the *basics*. I have been learning how to make a day and night cycle and a few other things. I am however looking for another kind of Roblox Lua site where I can get more basics/moderate/and advanced things to do. because Roblox wiki only goes from basics to advanced and its a bit hard.
If you know a website please post the link, I would greatly appreciate that. |

Hey, my first script that I wrote by myself was a day/night cycle IIRC. :) Carry on.

If you need help dumbing down the wiki I can help you. My Skype is xxspectrumwolfxx, so if you need help with an example ask.
However, I would strongly learning to read documentation for scripting. That's if you plan at all to keep learning, you will really find it worth your time. I found it very hard before too, but you got to learn to apply what you see on the wiki and test it to fully understand it. |

| Scripting is just a Code. It's easy to learn, you just need to practice. |

Honestly, math is involved yes, but you are just being very vague by saying it's like studying math in school. It goes as far as learning API's, SDK's, Frameworks, and so on. Math is probably the tip of the ice burg, most of what you'll have to learn is data types, syntax, and API.
Honestly just message me on how to do something and I can break it down. On ROBLOX with it's Lua version you just have to learn the syntax, and API. There aren't many usable data types, and besides they aren't publicly visible to begin with.

Also, "it's like learning a language." - You are learning a language, it's called Lua.
It's not object oriented but it has some of those capabilities an OO language would have. :)
Other Languages: Python, HTML, CSS, Java, JavaScript, C, C#, C++, Lua, .NET, Basic, Pascal, Objective-C, PHP, Ruby, SQL.
There are many other languages and each designed for stuff like web, servers, software, graphics, robots, etc.

Not going to beat down on you or anything but a day n' night script is easy. Just a simple while true do script that constantly adds a value to the TimeOfDay property.
But good luck scripting! |
