Alright, so my idea is to make an option like the transparency and reflectiveness area of Properties in Studio where you can adjust the reflectiveness of an object, but that object will only reflect if light is shone onto that piece. So say a player is holding a flashlight and shines it onto this certain brick. The brick would then reflect that light similar to how most roadsigns in real life do. Then, when the player shines the light off the brick, it will continue to look like a normal brick.
Now, I've thought this over, and I would assume that, since the light is coming from that block, a surface and/or point light on a light-reflective block would mean the block stays reflected the entire time. I think this would be fine if you wanted to keep a block reflected forever.
An update like this will really enhance many ROBLOX games and give you a more realistic experience. Games that have driving in them could greatly benefit from this because they could make the road signs be reflective when headlights shine on them to help the player stay on the road at night the same way they do in real life. Other developers/builders could probably use this in a creative way as well. You could make the blade of a weapon shine when light hits it, or give the visor to a helmet a stunning look.
In conclusion, I think adding a light-reflective block would be a good addition to the magnificence of ROBLOX.
Please give feedback and/or anything I may have missed.
Sincerely, popit123doe

This idea is Really good and everything, but just think about all it would take to Code this, since Light isnt a Brick itself but a Effect of the game, it's hard to make Bricks get activated by an Effect, Bassicaly like saying " ME KAN TURN ON A LITEBOOLB WITH A FLOSHLIT ".
Other than that, The idea is Decent and could help for Many stuff. ( Ie; SSSOOOLAAAR PANNEEELLLSSS ), So i guess i will Support this even tought of the Sh!tton of coding it will Take.
Maybe also make a Transparency mode that Reflects bricks infront of it? So we could make Mirrors, Optic illusions, Awesome-looking Weaponry, Maybe even we could make a Prism that reflects Light into a Rainbow!
Also pls make some astronomical bacon im very hongry.

| Yeah, I have thought about how hard it will be to actually make this happen, but I believe in the ROBLOX staff to be able to do this. It will change a lot of games hopefully for the better. |

If it is scriptable, then I did not know. I would like an example if this is indeed possible to script, to prove that it is, though.

| Oh yea, all the idiots saying scriptable aren't smart enough to provide a REAL reason why this shouldn't be added. They usually are trolls. And for this, I doubt that even 99.8% of the ROBLOX community will even figure out how to do that. |

1.) roblox is aware 2.) roblox is probably working on it, but it's probably one guy working on it because roblox doesn't care 3.) It's the old aspect of old roblox remaining, so it's probably nostalgic(or something) |

| Support. Actually pretty easy for ROBLOX to do since lights literally use raycasting to determine where the light will be with dynamic lighting. At least, that's how it would work if the ROBLOX engine was at all decent... |

| Support. I believe in the roblox team and I can even remember how amazing it was when dynamic lighting was added. This would be a spectacular extension to it! |

| I think this idea is really good. It would add another level of detail to the game that would really improve it. Every little bit of detail a game can get is amazing. And i think this should be added! |

Thank you for your thoughtful post.
But it would take a lot of scripting to achieve this and just for it to be a little more realistic seems like a waste of time, seeing as this isn't a game based on how realistic it is but rather Legos. We are adding a lot of new things with the scripts this upcoming year, but I'm afraid this will not be one of them.
But thank you again. |

| /\ Although ROBLOX is trying not be like any plastic building block company so they don't get sued. Besides, even little details like this I think would be worth it. |
