probably states' rights, because my school is a biased liberal propaganda machine that likely supports the criminal de facto federal government and not the de jure states.

what

"states rights" is what most conservatives clinge to.

I don't get why they teach 'States Rights'

The civil war was fought over the STATES RIGHTS to have SLAVERY.

Its slavery, when you move throughout your education, it constantly shifts:
Elementary - Middle School: Slavery
Highschool: State's Rights
College: Slavery

Neither
There's several different factors that played into the American Civil War and if you are being t aught that it is one or the other, or even only those two, you're being educated wrong and should do your own research since your educator clearly can't.

Olethrus then what is the real reason?

what are the "several different factors"

in all honestly all of the other claims people make for states rights revolves around slavery, all the economic and freedom arguments revolve around slavery

"it was for freedom" -freedom to hold slaves, even under the confederacy it had just as much centralized power as the union
"it was for freedom of economics" -economics revolving around slavery

Lincoln was *WILLING* to allow the southern states to keep slavery, but the south was still suspicious, so both

yall keep saying states rights but the only states rights i keep hearing is slavery

what were the other state rights.

as far as I can tell southern states wanted 'states rights' to have slavery since the majority of their economy was in agriculture and cotton which required major slave labor.

ofc banning slaves would hurt the economy of southern states.

The South saw Lincoln as a Abolitionist, and when he became President and got power they feared that he would disallow slavery across the nation, thus seceding from the Union.

And if my timeline is off and they seceded prior to Lincoln being elected, it was still likely evident that Lincoln would be elected, so my statement stands.

In Britain, most schools don't teach about this.

The rest of the world doesn't need to know about our Civil War, but it's still generally important to learn about the happenings of other countries.

For instance, the American Revolution (obviously before our Civil War,) laid out a path for the rest of the world to aspire for liberty. (see: French Revolution)

its somewhat relevant

glorious revolution and revolution in russia both had a big impact on the world as does the american civil war, which solidified the US as a more centralized power in its country which leads to the other world influences
