Einsteins theory of relativity states that the faster you go, the more dilated time gets (if you were to travel around the universe at the speed of light for 5 years, 80 years would have gone by for everyone else NOT traveling at the speed of light). So by that measure, since wormholes are like shortcuts between point a and point b (technically, in wormhole physics, point a becomes point b, so you don't have to travel at all to get from point a to point b). So if you were to take the exit of the wormhole, and by using some energy (gravitationally, magnetically?), propel it at the speed of light, or greater (if that is possible), you could travel instantaneously "back in time", but only to the point where the wormhole was created.

Hollie, maybe because they already came from the future, theres 8 billion people on this planet, how do you know none of them came from the future?

@Carl
Technically, paradoxes CAN happen, if you allow the alternate timeline theory into the problem.

| this model of einstein-rosen bridge doesn't work with general relativity. you'd have to incorporate some quantum theory, and even then it ends up being unstable and would collapse before any information got through. |

Still, there are some black holes that could be black holes, because nobody knows what happens if you were to break the speed limit of light while inside the event horizon, in order to avoid hitting the singularity, it's a theory that some black holes are in fact wormholes if you miss the singularity.

You can't physically travel at or beyond the speed of light, precisely because of the spacetime distortion that occurs as you approach the speed of light.
In a roundabout way, you can "time travel" to the future by traveling at near-lightspeed, since the spacetime dilation forces local time in the vehicle to move slower than "normal" time. Easiest way to do that would be to enter close orbit of a black hole. |

Sure, mass can't travel at or faster than the speed of light, but energy CAN. A wormhole is just energy.

"but energy CAN. A wormhole is just energy."
wormholes are possible in theory, but we've never observed one. Therefore, they're irrelevant to the discussion
and no. energy moves at exactly the speed of light. It doesn't slow down or speed up. |

Unto, first of all, I'm discussing the possible physics of wormholes, it's relevant, read the OP.
Secondly, some energy does not move at the speed of light, for instance, electricity.

| energy doesn't really have speed. it's transferred at the rate of motion of whatever particles are interacting. |

i'll concede the wormhole point i'm not agreeing that it allows time travel however
and electricity as humans use it is a series of charged particles, not pure energy. |
