so, with the recent shootings, political talk, etc. i wanna hear some other peoples opinions on this

heres my opinion, so, I'm not against guns in anyway, I think they're great and should stay a given right. but, you know, we need more control on them. seeing shootings now isn't very surprising, it's just too common for this to happen. gun bans aren't needed, it's just taking away rights and won't in the slightest actually help, just rile up more people

Gun control is stupid. The people who are getting them are getting them illegally (most likely), but making the legal method of buying them invalid will just make people want to get the guns illegally, which will just make the situation worse AND it will fund bad people.

People should own a gun for protection and can only be inside your house, you cannot take them outside your house/property

@vineshroom

it wont necessarily fund bad people if the possession is being better controlled

take a look at australia, their gun control has been actually helping

too few homicides by guns happen for it to matter or make a difference

most of these are within the family or other close ties too and you aren't going to prevent that

it's still scary of course and we should obviously mourn for the affected families but it's scary like thinking about how scary flying on a commercial plane is

it's pretty safe but still scary

do you not understand that the people who buy them regularly from a legal place will just resort to buying them via the black market?

the gun control policy would stop the purchases from and to the black market

I can understand both ends of the spectrum. On the one hand, if you give access to guns to the general population, you're giving potential criminals just as much access. On the other hand, a responsible gun owner could potentially save lives in the event of a mass shooting. Despite how absurd it is, imagine if one of the professors at Umpqua Community College had had a gun with him.

Easy access, I mean. I don't agree with banning guns. That's just ridiculous.

fully automatic weapons should be legalized but magazines should be capped to 5.

the seller(s) will not, or at least have a much harder time obtaining any firearms illegally, because of a working chain from obtaining to selling

Personally, I believe that one should be able to conceal carry outside of his/her home if they're properly trained.

I'm more worried of an idiot with a gun than a criminal with a gun. At least the criminal is predictable.

When it comes to businesses, allow the business owner to choose. If they don't feel safe with their customers carrying guns, then they can not allow it (or make sure the carrier goes out of their way to hide it).

thats actually a good idea, but in a way risky

people should and are allowed to have firearms with them in public as long is it is not loaded on carry, its a right

I think it's important to draw a parallel between this issue and the Prohibition era of the 1920s-1930s. How effective was Prohibition? How did buyers/sellers obtain their alcohol? Did it reduce crime rates and casualties, or did it bolster them? Just some food for thought.

It is risky, but if someone did decide to rob the store, or in more recent cases, kill a bunch of people. At least you give people a chance to defend themselves. Outlawing guns all together will reduce shootings, but when shootings do happen, which they eventually will whether guns are legal or not, they will be more severe. The only way to survive is to escape, or fight and hope his aim is awful.
