Would it be theoretically possible to teach Lua to speak English. Hear me out:
You could put this script into many games, and every time someone chats, have it record the message, and the players' response, then save it to DataStores, and have the computer take this data, and somehow find the most common responses to certain phrases. Then, using an ever growing database of responses that players use, when a player inputs a certain question, it could be able to answer in something that makes at least a bit of sense. Then we could use an improved version of LuaLlama's Voice Synthesizer with more Non-English rules, and different sounds. http://www.roblox.com/games/292636576/LuaLlamas-voice-synthesizer
Then, we can essentially have a fully functioning speaking computer. Would this work? If not, why not?
Please don't be mean, it's just an idea, and I'm just wondering if it would be possible in theory. |

| @Lord I'm really not expecting it to work, but I feel like it could work if people payed enough attention to it. |

| Yes it is possible, what you would want is an AI. However, your suggestion is very crude and is based on chance than a formula for speach. |

Google "Cleverbot"
It works on that idea, and as you can see, it's responses are a bit crude most of the time. |

| I was going to recommend looking at Cleverbot too. Remember that bots don't understand context, and that teaching a bot is more than just some chance and sequencing. |
