"The US navy has demonstrated a ship-mounted laser weapon system in the Persian Gulf, off the coast of Iran, capable of destroying targets on speeding boats or even aircraft with pin-point accuracy, it told reporters on Wednesday.
The laser weapon is 30 kilowatts in power, which makes it 30m times more powerful than a hand-held laser pointer. It can be run at lower power, to “dazzle” – which disrupts or damages sensors and instruments – or at full power to destroy targets.
In a video of the demonstration, the device is shown targeting a mounted missile on a speeding boat, and then first dazzling, then destroying, an unmanned aerial drone in mid-flight.
The navy was keen to point out that this was not just a scientific test – the laser device is fully operational. “We’re not testing any more – it’s working,” Rear Admiral Matthew Klunder, the chief of naval research, said in a press conference at the Pentagon on Wednesday.
The prototype device is mounted on the USS Ponce, an Austin-class amphibious transport vessel. Because the Ponce is 43 years old – one of the oldest vessels in the US navy – the laser weapon was installed with its own power generator, though Klunder said that newer vessels would be able to use their own power grid." |

"We spend more money on defense than the next 25 countries combined, yet we still run out of money for essential parts of society, like healthcare, and fighting poverty.
It's ridiculous and you know it."
on that point, the US spends more on healthcare per citizen than any other country soooo. It's the healthcare system (including Obamacare) in place, which royals screws us |

"Well, he did say something about increasing the tax rate which in turn will increase debt, and possibly deficit if he ends up doing something really stupid, so even if he cuts it by a little bit to fund that bill, it's going to end badly either way. (Now just keep in mind this is what i'm gathering from the situation correct me if i'm wrong.)
Now to fix things internally, we may have to repeal Obamacare and replace it with a better plan. (What that would be I don't know)
and the only reason that there's not much more freedom to stand on is left-wing federalism in itself."
he simply wants to increase taxation on "the rich" by a fair percentage the tax increase on middle class citizens is very minimal and hardly makes a difference on the said class citizens. obamacare is not at all an issue you uneducated child.
you're ignorant on this topic more so with your last sentence. so I'm leaving. bye.
do your research please :^) |

and people like you, sniper. generalizing people for opinions that many people in different parites share.
a republican and democrat can share the same though on a subject, doesn't change there majority thoughts.
Do not label people, thanks. (:
big business and corporations are the primary fault lines in our crumbling country, as well as most all other countries around the world.
the only way for change is in unity, a basic concept of democracy that has become so faded. |

Ok, he's pretty dumb, Im just going to say this. first I never specified anything he said, I just said it would add onto the debt. it is still a tax increase. Obamacare leeches tax dollars into a broken program, if it was improved upon or if a new program was put in place that resulted in less spending, it wouldn't be a problem. I've done enough research. I tried to be nice, but no, it just never works for me with you guys, really, I try. |

I would like to note as Leon said, we pay more money on healthcare per person than any other country as well. That is what I mean by it's leaching money.
The program isn't necessarily as broken as I made it out to be medically, but it's pretty broken in terms of how much money actually goes into it. it still does provide healthcare for poor people in that sense but it's overfunded, we should spend a little more money on creating jobs for people below the poverty line. I would give it more credit if it spent money on research, but in reality it pays pretty little attention to research and that's a very essential part of healthcare. |

The amount of spending we do on our military makes us look very, very powerful. Every country knows this, everyone knows this.
Therefore, with this amazing military, nobody will mess with us because they will get completely stomped out of existence by us. It gives me a sense of pride and it also makes me feel 100% more safe living in an area that is under heavy fire by many countries that hate us.
And the fact that many veterans are still struggling to maintain a decent life after the military with the money that goes into it is a problem. I do not feel like we should cut any spending, but we should work it around better so the veterans can actually be supported when they leave the military. After all, they keep us all safe. |

Did you know more people died in chigaco due to crime than in the war with the middle east?
Maybe to feel more safe we should raise our internal protection and allow the police to be armed with military grade armaments |

yeah, that's totally the right response.
How about we fix our education system and focus on the improving the quality of life for every American citizen? Then, maybe, AS PROVEN, crime rates drastically go down? |

I was being sarcastic to show how ridiculous his point was.

While we are at it, lets make miracles pop out of our butts and shoot rainbow lasers out of our eye sockets? Because with our current system this will never be fixed in our generation. |

Arming the police wouldn't do a thing to help that problem.
The only thing to really help that situation is find the people who are most likely the ones who will be suspects (most of the time these people have many misdemeanor/slightly more heavy crimes already on their record), and have someone be designated to keep a close and watchful eye on them from afar. (Just a theory I had, people will get upset by "privacy" but when these people are the ones killing others I dont think they deserve that right.) |

Not my point. The only way to fix those things, is by eliminating the biggest problem which is the corporate gripped american government.
