I know, I know, respect the dead and all... But seriously.
You just sit there and listen to babbling about a person you most of the time don't even know or give a crap about. And be sad.
It's boring. |

.....Dude. You're there out of respect for how they've effected you. You're there because you care about them. It doesn't matter if it's boring or not, you're there because you WANT to be there. If not, then I guess you need to just not go.

I mostly go to them to support my friends who lost the person, I havn't lost anyone I was close to or knew personally yet. (Which is a good thing.) Still boring though. |

@Mavryn, Well that's gross.
No, I mean like some party or something, instead of mourning over the loss for 2 hours while sitting in chairs, celebrate who the person was. Like I think how the Italians (or Mexicans I don't remember) do it or something. |

When my Great Grandpa died the funeral lasted for a week.
We had the actual mourning+speaking (where i got to sing :3) the burial we had a few receptions and a party
Everyone is different. Some people believe funerals are for mourning death. Others think that funerals are for celebrating that person's life. |

95% sure that's only what church goers do. Death is mostly seen as a thing to mourn though in some places coffins are paraded to cemeteries to be buried, while people follow singing and such. I've seen it in New Orleans and on a smaller, third worldier (???) scale in India. |

Extreme stereotyping here, advance like an American.
In Italy they chop up the eyes of the corpse and spread them out on a pizza.
In Africa, it's more or less the same, just with nudists.
In Afghanistan they strap explosives to the corpse and blow it up, it's called advancing to the virgins.
Here in Canada, we're exactly the same, but you should see the faces of us trying to hold out accents back, hilarious.

@Mavryn, Now that, is a funeral.
Yeah a funeral can be both ways I guess, I prefer the party way though.
@jrad, Well that's...Different then the usual funeral.
I dunno I just think the usual american funerals need just...Something. ...But that's just me. :l |

What makes a funeral American? You really need to provide some more thought before you share out your own opinions.

@Pxsheen, They generally take place in churches with religion involved, and 2 hours of talking about the person who died. Key word: Generally, I am generalizing here quite a lot. |

You mean western funerals because its not only America that does this. So, stop generalizing and get your mind right. |
