Something about just hearing the things feminists say angers me to no end. I'm not sure what it is. I just really don't like it.
I won't directly say anything mean about feminism to feminists' faces -- rather, I'll just act apathetic. But on the inside, I'll completely disregard pretty much everything they've said about being ridiculous.
Is this just me being an intolerant jerk or is this just me having an opinion on something for once or is this just me being too influenced by OT or is this just me being a generic middle-class white girl who's overprivileged and not considering those in poverty? |

Hm. I just don't agree with their methods for promoting equality...at all. |

| Agreed, they all hate men, twist ANY kind of heterosxual relationship into abusive, and are really ugly. |

| I don't really see it as man-hating, I just kind of see it as being misguided, or chasing your tail. |

Feminists keep expecting me to support them just because I'm female I think men and women already have almost equal rights, and feminists don't really have to annoy us anymore. |

I know about all this, but I feel as though modern-feminism, even if it's not radical, is completely unnecessary in the US. |

Yeah. I don't get how they can be so open about these things, like if I hold a belief like that I only bring it up if someone's asking me about it. |

maybe not in the legal aspect of things but in the social field gender equality overall needs work
unnecessary gender roles and stereotypes of people, genders, cultures etc need to tone down a lot too
i personally don't like the term feminism as it sounds gender-centric and ignites the wrong kinds of thoughts and opinions to people but i fully support the concept

In my opinion, feminism is an obsolete concept in the first world.

I'd say I don't see these gender roles and stereotypes, but I'd be wrong.
The thing is, though, that I find stereotypes to be funny. Always have, always will. I see them as notions that are ridiculously exaggerated and meant to add comedic effect. If you take them seriously, that's not my problem, that's yours for not letting yourself in on the joke, y'know?
The gender roles idea? Well, I mean, I won't deny that my mother holds this ever-so-infinitely-annoying belief that when I grow up, I'm going to be her grandchild factory. But that's not going to happen. I don't want children. I doubt I'm even going to have a spouse. Somehow, she gets the feeling that my 14 years with this idea fixed in my brain are going to suddenly flip around and embrace its opposite. It's okay, though. That's probably not because I'm a girl (though she seems to force the idea on me much more than she does on my siblings, I will say), it's because she thinks that because I'm "smart" (in quotations because I would never call myself that, haha), it's my duty as a "smart" human being to have "smart" children, because that'll obviously make a dent in the general population of idiocy.
If I have a relationship, it's going to be anything but conventional, I assure you that. There won't be some ridiculous wedding where I get to be all dressed up and pretty and be the total focus of the entire event (because that's what bloody weddings are, focusing on the woman in her wedding dress), and there won't be dates where the guy has to burn his wallet to the ground because I'll be the one paying for it, like hell if he says otherwise because the most I'll compromise with is 50/50, and the guy probably won't even have to work a day in his life if he really wants to, because I don't give a crap about his social status since I want to be the worker of the house anyways and I'll be darned if he thinks I'm going to quit my job because screw that, I'm no housewife.
I probably won't be the one to cook, because putting me in the kitchen is like dropping a cat in a pool and telling it to start swimming (though I wouldn't mind cooking, I can probably pull it off if I try, I just never have), and I probably won't be the one to clean, considering the size of the dust bunnies that are dancing around my room (again, that's not a question of whether it's in my capacity, it's more of a question of whether I'm too lazy to or not).
But who cares? Nobody in my life has told me once that this is wrong. Nobody ever will, unless they're trolling or some radical idiot. If I decided these things on my own, in my mind that's enough to prove that there isn't enough social pressure to force all women into a housewife position, nor is there enough social pressure to force all women into expecting men to do the dirty work for them. And if not all women expect men to do all the dirty work for them, then not all men are expected to do the dirty work, so that means being a softie is okay, guys. |
