And give details and give external and internal conflicts
In Eve Bunting’s novel Blackwater, conflict plays a role in most of the story. Bunting uses both internal and external conflicts in the whole story. She uses the internal and external conflicts to show how Brodie reacts internally and externally. External conflict is to react on the outer surface, internal conflict is to react inside the body. A example of internal conflict is that Brodie is struggling to tell the truth. Eve Bunting shows how Brodie reacts to Pauline drowning and dying by his heart thudding. Brodie is freaking out internally Also if Brodie says something mean to Alex, he can tell the truth. Brodie is scared that Alex will tell someone and get him in trouble. Brodie is fighting Alex because he can reveal the truth at anytime he wants to and Brodie externally shows how he feels about it. Brodie is fighting Alex because Alex has the power to change his life. Brodie is scared that Alex might tell. If he does tell Brodie will possibly face manslaughter charges. Alex feels bad for Brodie because of Otis and Pauline drowning. Brodie can control what he does externally but he can't control himself internally. Eve Bunting shows how Brodie acts internally on page 85 by saying “in silence I heard the thudding of my heart.” Brodie doesn't want the police to find out the truth what really happened
Brodie can't control his emotions inside he is really sad and scared. He feels very responsible what happened and he can't tell the truth because the punishment can be serious. He tried to fake how he acts so nobody is suspicious. Brodie knew who wrote the “TELL” notes and is very surprised.
