how is 72% not a pass [2]
The only reason that wouldn't be a pass is if the teacher is an idiot and says 75% up is a pass.

Since when is a 72 a D...?
60-69 is usually a D, and 70-79 a C.

That sounds like a problem with the teacher actually.
It's highly unlikely that NO ONE out of 200 students cared about the class/is a bio major, and he/she likely failed to teach that unit properly.
You might want to consider dropping the class if you still can without it showing up on your transcript and retaking under a different teacher |

Also yeah, 72 is a C.
But it's still sad that 72 was the highest score and is likely the ONLY passing test. |

Yes, but a 72% should still be a C, if not a passing grade.

Yeah but, at least in my state they can't make it so disbalanced that a 72 is a D.
Usually they'll just do things like 69=C, 79=B Or even 70=D, but they usually don't go so far as to make 2% over 70 a D.

Bio programs vary at colleges in terms of grading scale. With us it goes by the basic middle school sort of one.
93-100 A 87-93 B 78-86 C 70-77 D 0-69 F

Biology was not a hard class at all.
Just pay attention and do the homework. Then you won't need to study at all. |

"why is 72 not a pass"
There are no D's in college. It's just like getting an F. |

I'm actually a college student myself and have a friend who's majoring in bio.
Here in my state, a 72 would be a C. At least for the courses she's taking. |

| But no, it's still a ridiculously hard major. She almost dropped out last semester due to stresses+the demands of class. |

| Also, even though it's a hard major, an entire class of 200 students failing the first exam still shows fault on the teacher to teach the lesson properly. My friend never talks about having exams where everybody fails. |

This is due to professor's insufficient teaching/making information available.
Also getting a C in a class in college generally isnt considered much better than a F or D. While it's technically passing, it shows to potential employers that you're not willing to go even a little above 'average'. Also a C can hurt your GPA. |
