When people say America, they refer to the country. When people say "The Americas" or "North and South America", it's a reference to the continents. Basic. While American citizens are still not concerned with foreign affairs, it seems the government is. Also feels like they are taking over other cultures. Sounds stupid but everyone is speaking American English nowadays. |

To answer your question, yes, a good percent of americans are ignorant of other cultures and languages (As in some people think every foreign language = spanish).

Something about weeabooism has a hint of xenophobia in it. Or obsession with other cultures, sometimes. |

I had to learn English in school, it's my third language. Since I grew up with two other languages. Well, I had a choice of English, German, or Arabic. I went with English, but now I realize, I did not need to take that course. I would have learned English anyway by going on the internet. Most people do it that way.
What really bothers me is when someone mocks names from other cultures. Not nice to demand others to use simpler names for them. Telling people to act different and to abandon their culture to fit in. That's something that old-time European immigrants did to the natives of different continents. |

It's like the Americans think they're the only ones struggling with terrorism, or fighting terrorism. |

One thing about America that always strikes me as odd, is people claiming like twenty other heritages. You're American, if you were born and raised there... |

| America is a country based off of many countries pouring immigrants into one country. so many that its kinda questionable whether or not america has it's own culture or not. most seems to be based off of many other's cultures, or adjusted to their own. |

Part of the reason why Americans like to claim other heritages, I suppose. So that they feel like they have a culture. |
