So I wanted to make a basic vehicle, no decorations or stuff like that. I watched a ROBLOX U tutorial. I did everything it said. I put a VehicleSeat, made sure the hinges were IN the block, etc. But the car still won't drive. I'm not sure where I went wrong.

Anchored blocks.

Check for them.

Hmm...

Is there anything that is c-framed and meshed into another brick without a weld script?

Now, I only followed the ROBLOX U tutorial, nothing too complicated.

Did you place the Parts together using the 1/5th stud grid tool? I've found if you use the Grid off (x) tool the seat won't recognize the hinges.
If you look at the Properties of your VehicleSeat you should see a line that says 'Hinges detected', you should see the same number as the number of wheels you have.
Also, don't have Welds on the sides of the wheels or Part that are touching.
As well, make sure your wheels aren't CylinderMeshes, they are still square Parts that just look like circles. Only use Cylinders or Balls as wheels as they will rotate.

Yes I did, I used the 1/5'th grid.

Haven't done it, but I will.

No welds.

I did NOT use cylindermeshes I hope.

I just checked the vehicleseat and it says it detects 4 hinges, which is the number of wheels.

If you make it a model and make it free I can take a look at it. There are a lot of little details that can get overlooked.

Do the wheels not move at all? If not then they are probably stuck to something because the VehicleSeat is recognizing them.
If they're just moving a tiny bit and the wheels are really big you need to increase the Torque in the VehicleSeat.

Does it not move at all, or just have issues with climbing Terrain?
I made a suspension 4x4 that climbs terrain pretty well, it's on my Go-Kart places, on the hill just by the spawn point. You can't make it without scripting the seat, but it works well.
If you have issues with it climbing Terrain, make the Friction of the Wheels 2 (the max it can go) so it climbs better, increase the torque, but decrease the MaxSpeed so your wheels will go uphill better.

None taken. I'm not ancient, but I am old!

I can't tell why the model won't work, you may have to make it free for us to check out.

Works absolutely fine for me, so my best guess is you've placed it on a welded surface by mistake.

Lord of all things, breaded and unbreaded.

Works fine for me too, although it won't climb legacy terrain because the wheel friction and the VehicleSeat Torque need to be higher, and the MaxSpeed needs to be a bit lower. You may also have to move the 'frame' Part & seat a bit higher so it will clear bumps without getting high-centered.

Do you have a Weld Script in anything in the place you are testing it in? That may be welding the car parts together. Go into Studio Test mode (F6) and select the Move tool so you can select the car Model.
Click the arrow next to the name Model in your Explorer window and have the Properties window open. Now if you see arrows next to the VehicleSeat and other Parts (If you are sitting in the VehicleSeat you will see a SeatWeld in it) click on them. If they contain welds, you have a weld script somewhere in the Workspace that is welding your car.
