| It's pretty uncommon, but that doesn't mean it can't work. Super Mario Bros for Wii U, although not isometric, uses a similar camera perspective to isometric games, and it's a great platformer. But I imagine building a 2D isometric platformer would be pretty tough to get right. |

I've thought about that a lot, and I honestly think it can work if it is done in a good way to fit the use of isometric view. I remember seeing some indie developer working on his game that was isometric although I can't remember what it was called but it looks pretty good.
I also think you could consider Bastion as a platformer is a weird sense. |
