"a cable 84 meters long is cut into two pieces so that one piece is 18 meters longer than the other. find the length of each piece of cable."
is this really as easy as it sounds or is this some sort of trick question and how the FREAK did this get into algebra 2

the first cable is 18 and the second one is y

Its not a trick but isn't as easy as it looks. Im pretty sure this is algebra.

YOU TAKE 84 DIVIDE BY TWO THEN ADD 18
THEN YOU TAKE 84 AND MINUS IT BY 60
WTF LOVEY ITS EASY

The cables = 84 METERS One cable = 18 METERS LONGER THAN THE OTHER CABLE SO FIND OUT THE LENGTH OF EACH CABLE. How to check answer: THE NUMBERS MUST ADD UP TO 84. ONE CABLE MUST BE 18 METERS LONGER THAN THE OTHER.

42 - 18 = 24
42 + 18 = 60
