So I think ROBLOX mentioned this awhile ago when they were telling us about a new physics engine and particles that were entering Roblox at the time. Now if you don't know what FTP uploading is, it basically allows us to have local files that are on our computer that we could open with notepad or any text editor and save it. Saving the file will result in it uploading itself to any server and the online code has now become what you edited. I think this could help on so many levels if this was added into Roblox. Being able to upload your script via your text editor would save so much time and effort. If there was a small bug I wanted to fix, I could just update the script there and shut down all the servers. Another use of this would be able to use 1 script on multiple game's/universes. This means everything could be updated with one save. I really hope you guys back this and this would bring ROBLOX further into more development.

This is a good idea, But don't you think it would increase flaws in security?

Drac, No. You can not download. Only upload. there is also something called SFTP which is the safe version.

I think you have a terrible understanding of how FTP works.
FTP allows you to transfer files to a web server.
FTP doesn't allow you to upload to "any" server. It allows you to upload to the server that you have credentials for. If there was a single bug, user data could be compromised if someone uploaded a malicious script. Leave the FTP credentials to the web developers, not the users.

You misunderstand, ROBLOX has many ways of stopping people from 'hacking' our data. They could just make available to only known devs.

| So you want to give known devs another advantage? Know devs have everything already. They have their own dev events, they make real money off of DevEx, and they have fame. If that's not all, you want to give them the keys to my account? No thanks. If a dev quits, they can easily leak everything on that database to the public and Roblox would explode with hackers. |

| @cybersquat You misunderstood. I'm pretty sure he means an alternate auto-update system, besides LoadAsset. In my opinion, LoadAsset is all we need. |

| It still opens up the possibility of a security breach. I don't want my account in the hands of someone else. |

How would this be possible for FTP uploaded scripts to be read if they're .txt files rather than .rbxmx files, is this idea ONLY for scripts, where would they be uploaded in--models, plugins? Whatever agreement or disagreement, no support.
The equivalent amount of time and hassle to be less wasted also same applies to the amount of time it would take to copy-'n-paste stuff from a text editor to a script too.

@Not, FTP does not just mean .txt FTP means we can access the server files. So we can access the .Lua files

no ftp = file transfer protocol like ftp://127.0.0.1 you need access to the host (username and pass.word, and no, not the roblox username and passw.ord) and it puts all the files onto the desired server. |

FTP security is a very serious concern and because of this, your credentials only give you access to directories YOU are authorized to view. You couldn't access somebody else's account with credentials that only give you access to your own assets folders.
Support, but limit it to either SFTP or FTPS (SFTP uses SSH and FTP in concert, and I forget what port FTPS uses but it's similar to SFTP) so that people can't hack your data stream. And the credentials would just be your ROBLOX username and pass.word. |
