No, I found it in a bucket of your posts, but I guess there isn't much of a difference.

"if (eggs) { loaf = 12; }"
this doesn't make sense
if something doesn't exist, then there would be an nil error.

Okay for those that don't get the joke
When the programmer's wife asks the programmer to get a dozen eggs if they have them, the wife only says 'a dozen' instead of 'a dozen eggs'. The programmer goes out, notices the eggs and buys 12 loaves of bread
I really hope that this is a signature |

She told him to get a loaf of bread, then added an if statement. Because the store did have eggs, he picked up twelve loaves of bread. She didn't specify that she wanted him to get eggs if the store had them, but rather she added an if condition to her previous request.

@Plungeit
But if you just told a computer to get a dozen of something and didn't specify what it'd usually just return an error. It wouldn't go out of its way to guess what that dozen was. |

Humans are different to computers
They use their initiative, which, most of the time is right and sometimes is wrong

That's why the joke makes no sense. It doesn't work as a program.
>"And pick up a loaf of bread. She also asks that if they have eggs, he get a dozen."
pickUpLoaf(1);
if (hasEggs()) { }
I can't put "pickUpLoaf(12)" after the if statement because I never stated WHAT do pick up. Computers don't recognize "a dozen". You have to say a dozen of what. |

@Cat
You're just making up the "loaf = 12" thing. There is no "dozen loaves" in the joke.
Computers don't assume things. You have to tell it what you want. |

lmao op you should understand programming before making jokes.
if eggs then print("EGGS") end
eggs is a nil value, therefore it will give a error.
even this wouldn't work
eggs = nil; bread = 0
if eggs then bread = 12 end
because eggs is nil, the if statement won't continue because if eggs = if eggs == true, nil == false

@bad
There's nothing in the joke that suggests you should add an "bread = 12" line in the first place. |
