Character Sheet:
Name: Alaric 'the Black Wind' Age: 25 Gender: Male
Biography: Alaric, a child of a far northern province, was originally the son of a Duke. The advance of the Kingdom to the south crushed his homeland and annexed the region, leaving him the last child of the House of Aldren. He was taken in by the King, made a prominent warrior in his court, and given training in the art of nobility. He eventually married in to the royal family, his wife (the King's niece Matilda d'Angouleme) giving him an even greater name to tout at the tables. Experienced with war and battle strategy, Alaric grew fond of combat and eventually was credited with conquering the independent County of Renais with only five hundred men.
But for all his achievements, Alaric was never given a fief of his own. None of the lands he ventured into were ever granted to him- as it turned out, there was a purpose for this. King Galve, by the Grace of God the King of Luchia, Count of Renais, and Duke of Temeria, had long ago discovered this far-off continent, and sought out the right man to colonize it. So he sent the young Northman, who by his achievements earned the sobriquet of 'Black Wind' for his personal prowess in combat but never showed any political finesse, to establish a colony of his own people and create from this a new land of his kin.
Family Name: House Aldren
Personality: Alaric is rather the typical soldier and general. Among nobles, he is considered rude and offputting, but with his own men and any under his command he displays a remarkable talent with words and inspiration. In this way he was the perfect man for a Kingdom in an uninhabited land- he commands absolute loyalty from his subordinates, but is very poor at making friends with equals.
Appearance: As a northman, Alaric is a little on the short side, with broad shoulders and a burning crimson shade to his long hair and beard. His eyes are a crystalline blue and his skin is pale, from his feet to his lips and nips.
He is exceptionally physically gifted, with a grand set of muscles to complete his short frame. Other: nekcihc
Kingdom Sheet:
Name: Aldrenland
Banner Description: A gold cross separating four blue quadrants, with a rampant black gryphon in the foreground.
Land formation created on: A valley adorned with a river which runs its length and forms the two passes into the region, and which leads to the east out to sea. Forests decorate the interior.
Main Import: Wool
Main Export: Timber
Your covered wagons finally have arrived to the spot in where you believe it is most fit to start a new colony. Are you ready to lead your people to greatness?
What do you do first? |

As per my plan in another world, I first set up camp along a river. Around the camp I order that a wide ditch be built twenty feet from the perimeter which surrounds us, excepting a land bridge.
I order whoever is left of the civilians over to cut down nearby trees and construct a wall just behind the moat.
If I have a scout, send him down the river to recon the nearby area. |

| You lack the resources to do all of these things but soon send out workers to gather said resources. |

| Yes. As they begin to dig out the moat, they find a ruin under ground. |

| As I wait for them to carry out my orders, I take a spearman down to explore the ruin. |

| It's a collection of standing stones with a large metal gate blocking an entrance or room. |

| There seems to be a series of locks that all, well, interlock. They have ancient scribbles wrote across them in an unknown language. |

You don't have an ax on you but instead, a group of soldiers found some magnesium and pile it up against the wall. With a torch, they set the magnesium ablaze and break through the vault. Inside, there are shambling corpses with a wall made of brick with a scorpion on a post. Two of the corpses notice you and begin to man the scorpion while a few archers begin to notch arrows into their bows.
They shout at your group in an ancient language. |

Why did I not bring a weapon of my own.
This makes no sense.
Nonetheless, I order my men to take cover and raise their shields if they have any. |

All I said is that you don't have an ax.
Your swordsmen collect themselves and form a miniature shield wall. There are no signs of ammunition whizzing past anyone's head or the clanking of metal against metal in a sword fight. You peek above the shield wall to see that the corpses are just waiting. |

| A bolt punctures a soldier's shield and kills him instantaneously. They release multiple volleys of arrows into your ranks and the shafts puncture multiple soldier's armors. Your archers fumble to their bows and begin to return fire. The corpses begin to reload another bolt into the scorpion. |

| Order an advance on the corpses. Tell the men that when the scorpion aims at them they must split. |

| Your men scramble to the wall and begin lifting each other up. They're trying to scale it while the archers are providing covering fire. The scorpion bolt catches someone but a foul arrow strikes the corpse's skull that's aiming the scorpion and he falls backwards off the wall. |
