if it takes a lumberjack 12 minutes to cut a log into 4 pieces, how long should it take her to cut the same log into 3 pieces?

Each piece is 3 minutes...
3 pieces would be 9 minutes.
So, first poster is correct.

uh op is a liar and wrong
it says the SAME log, so if it was already cut, it shouldn't take time at all, hence 0 minutes
draw me or scam

okay so...what u do is simple:
it takes 12 mins to cut a log into 4 pieces. to get 3 pieces, 12/4=3.
but the time taken to cut a log is 8 bc 3x4=12. but this time ur taking away 4 from 12 so it becomes 8.
my explanations are the worst.

I thought it was 9 12/4=3 then multiply the time it took to cut 1 piece (3) by the number of pieces you're cutting (3)
so it'd be 9
OP thinks he's so smart when his stupidity is so stupid it actually borders intelligence |

@skully
oh I worked it out like this
It take 12 minutes to cut 1 log into 4 pieces
In order to do that you need to make 3 cuts meaning that it takes 4 minutes to make each cut.
In order to make 3 pieces of wood from 1 you need to make 2 cuts. So if each cut takes 4 minutes and you need to make 2 then it would take 8 minutes.

4 min b/c to have 4 pcs you only need to cut 3 times =|=|=|= So for only 3 pcs it would only require 2 cuts =|=|=
12/3=4 ------ 4(2)=8 |
