Many complain that Pokemon games these days are too easy...Here's what they could do:
When you start the game, you can either do Normal Mode or Hard Mode. Normal Mode is X and Y difficulty, while Hard Mode is more for people who really know what they're doing, all enemy Pokemon are naturally stronger, so you actually need better strategy than the enemies.
Bam, difficulty problem solved...Maybe. |

| lolno. there is no need to change the difficulty at all. it's supposed to be a kids game, it serves it's target audience well. If people actually complain about it being to easy, they really need to start battling online with actual people. they will never think it is too easy again |

| ^ True, but it still pisses me off how in X and Y you just find Mewtwo in a random cave and you can catch it with a normal pokeball. In the original game you had to do all these puzzels and exploring just to find mewtwo, and then the only way you can catch it is with a masterball which you only find once in the game |

@God, True, I guess online is for hardcore players. I myself find it funny that people say "Pokemon is a game for casual kids." Congrats, you just stated a fact, it is indeed for that audience.
It's also funny seeing people say "The petting pokemon thing completely ruined the gaime OMG!1" . . .If you can't take 10 seconds to pet your pokemon, yet you can grind for hours and hours fishing for that whalmer, I don't know what to say to you. Also, it's almost completely optional. (Certain pokemon need it to evolve I think...?)
@minecraft, Wait seriously? They made Mewtwo that easy to get? |

Well, the difficulty in battle facilities, such as the Battle Maisons in both pairs of Gen 6 games, probably doesn't need any adjustment.
Other than that, I agree with the concept of difficulty adjustment. |

| Lol, the hardest time i ever had with Pokemon, is when I was facing the elite four in firered. I only had a lvl 70 charizard, a level 50 machamp, and all of the legendary birds. Even then it was still one of the most difficult battles ever. I got to lance, then it was insta death, since I ran out of charizards Dragon type moves, everything was awful and fell apart. I then learned to collect as many ethers as possible, never use them, and buy a ton a Celadon. |

They did that in BW2. You had to beat the normal mode which then unlocked "Challenge Mode"

| im 90% sure there is no such thing as a new pokemon game and that each new iteration is just a graphical overhaul |

Eh, I just stick with Sapphire and Ruby on my emulator instead of getting the new games. Like I said in my first post, in X and Y you can catch Mewtwo with the starter pokeball, and not only that, X and Y makes it so easy to level up your party, I remember in the old games it would take hours of constant playing after beating the elite four to reach level 90, now it takes 30 minutes to reach level 100 after you beat the elite four. Why Nintendo, WHY
This is one of the reasons I have abandoned all Nintendo games excluding metroid. |

| @Waffle Back when I played Fire Red it was super hard for me to beat the elite four because I just had 1 Venusaur and the rest of my party were a bunch of TM slaves. That's another thing X and Y messed up with, the only reason HMs used to be so special was because, unlike TMs, they could be used multiple times. But in X and Y TMs and HMs can be used multiple times, so they pretty much defeated the purpose just to make it easier. |

Honestly even just the difference between Black/White and X/Y in difficulty kinda pissed me off
Black was my first Pokemon game for a while, you didn't get the XP Share until Chargestone Cave, about halfway through the game. You still had to train your Pokemon for the Elite Four battle. In X/Y, the EXP Share is practically handed to you at the beginning of the game and by the time I fought the Elite Four, all my Pokemon with type advantages over them were level 70, at least

@mikeyman
Honestly that's why gen 5 is my favorite gen. The difficulty isn't sunshine and rainbows but not unspeakably hard. The graphics were my favorite out of all the gens and the story and music is kind of underrated in my opinion. |

@god
he's not suggesting to change difficulty he's suggesting to have access to a thing like B/W's Challenge Mode right from the start |

I've only played up to BW2, in-fact I only just got W2 earlier on this month and got W a few years ago. My first game was either Blue or Sapphire, and I can tell you now that when I played Sapphire the League was much harder that I couldn't beat it.
But then again, I was much younger then and I only trained my starter pokemon, ignoring the rest of my team completely. It wasn't until I got gen 4 games I actually started training my whole team.
To be honest, White 2 was actually pretty easy compared to White. The first gym had the lowest pokemon out of all the gym leaders out of all of the regions which were even below level 10. It was like 1 Patrat and Lilpup and that was it. By the time I got to Iris, I found her quite tricky and had quite a few disadvantages for most of her pokemon, some only winning by a landslide but my pokemon were like 2 levels higher than her's.
With Platinum, I was kinda lazy because when I got to the league I traded my team from Pearl over and gave Pearl to my brother because my pokemon were so low and I had no where to train. I think I've only beat the Johto (Kanto) League, Sinnoh League and Unova Leagues so far. |
