New crossbow bolts, rope bolt, water bolt, oil bolt, torch bolt. Crowbar to smash open windows Lockpicks Sarcastic letters to leave on your victim's bodies.
"this is really hard to pull off, maybe it might be possible because, UE4, but eh..." They had a little of it in Dishonored, you know the sort of crates on ziplines in the city streets? They can be hit down with a sword and they explode.

yes but if you they gave you the ability to shoot down chandeliers, it would be a pain because,
Chandeliers emit light, therefore they would have to bake a level over and over and over again
Ever wondered why Thief 4 doesn't have water arrows while Thief 1,2 and 3 do?
It's because the old primitive point light system just doesn't cut any more, the industry decided to shift to physically based lighting to get more realistic lighting, unfortunately this meant that lights can't move.
But then again with new technologies like Real time radiosity, this might be a thing of the past since it calculates the bounces on the fly,
but that is only if Arkane is going to use an engine with that tech

Oh never mind thief 4 does use water arrows, but that's because it uses RT radiosity

I guess you are right,
God beams can be made with Static meshes using a fresnel input in the transparency channel
but why do that when unreal can already build god rays without resorting to something so primitive

Uh... okay Just so we are all on the same page..
Real time = Happens as you are playing the "game" or moving around your viewport
Baking = Precalculating all light bounces and shadows in static meshes
Static meshes = Objects in a game/scene that don't move(say, a house)
Radiosity = an inaccurate but fast form of global illumination
Global illumination = IRL light bounces a million times,
but in 3d spaces like VGs, light does not bounce, ever, it just casts rays
resulting in a pretty bad image(Also the reason why dynamic lights in roblox look so bad)
But global illumination ensures that light rays bounce multiple times(2 times or maybe 5 depending on what you need)
