the last answer with lilly pads and the lake: 47
Why? If the lake is filled on the 48th day, and the lake doubles in size, that means that the 47th day would have been half sized.
But tell me this, if a bat and a ball costs $10.66, and the ball is exactly five dollars less than the ball, how much does the bat cost?

seems like a basic algebra question let's assume that the bat is x that would mean the ball is x - 5.00 x + x - 5.00 = 10.66 2x - 5.00 = 10.66 2x = 15.66 x = 7.83 7.83 - 5.00 = 2.83 7.83 + 2.83 = 10.66 B)

x = item the integer (in this case, the amount that the item you want is higher or lower than, so 5)
in this scenario we have two item so that's 2x, and the integer is 5.
so 2x + 5.00
we also have the total price, 10.66
2x + 5.00 = 10.66
now all you have to do is apply algebra laws such as "change side, change sign" which means, if it's a "+" it turns "-" and a multiple turns into a divide, and vice versa
2x = 10.66 - 5.00 2x = 5.66
now 2x means 2 multiplied by x so lets go ahead and apply the change side change sign rule again
x = 5.66 / 2 x = 2.83
meaning the item that is "5 dollars" less or more is 2.83, so that means the price of what you want is
2.83 + 5.00 7.83
good job though my dude
