| Do we need to be told when to laugh because the writers can't make their jokes clear enough? Is it for background noise? |

To set the moment when the person watching is soposta laugh because scientists have apparently done testing that proves your more comfortable laughing when someone is laughing with you so they add laugh tracks

Because everyone can not get funny jokes, so we must force upon them that our joke is funny. And we must make people know when to be shocked or sad or when to cheer. BECAUSE PEOPLE CAN'T PROCESS THE SHEER FACT THAT THEY MADE A FUNNY, AND YOU MUST LAUGH AT A JOKE THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE FUNNY OR SOMETHING TERRIBLE WILL HAPPEN. |

| Originally, they were put in to simulate the experience of watching a performance with an audience as opposed to by yourself. There are lots of shows now that have real audiences laughing for the tracks; I actually sat in on one of those tapings once. Kind of a fun thing for tourists to do. |
