This game, right here: http://www.roblox.com/games/59903654/Forsaken-Sword-Legacies-RPG-2
Ten years after you've slain the fantasy stock villain, the weirdly nameless kingdom you happen to live in has been rebuilt, and continues to enjoy uninterrupted peace. But if that were the end of it, there would be no game, because the stock villain, Drakus, has revived through poorly written means! Not only that, but the cliche magic sword the game is named after is within his grasp, making him stronger than ever, obviously! Laid on the ground before you is the short sword you started your previous adventure with. You pick it up, because you have no money for the much, much better swords in the shop a few steps away, and begin your ridiculously long pursuit of Drakus through means that should have been explained via narrative!
And that's an evaluation of the story.
Gameplay -
A lot of RPGs on Roblox are grind-fests, and become boring after a while if you aren't a completionist. This game has few differences. You start the game, you read the story (or skip it), you get your first quest which sends you off to kill enemy npcs (which only exists within the gameplay, and not the story, pretty much a wasted opportunity), you turn in the quest, and then you gain numbers. Rinse, wash, and repeat. Bosses are delightfully different, but you're still killing something to gain numbers.
I give the gameplay a 3.5/5, because some of the bosses will take advantage if you're standing still slashing at them, so that there is still some level of attention you have to give the game, rather than simply clicking. Hey, at least the final boss was amazing.
Building-
It's poor. The game makes it obvious that the developer was trying to go for a bit of a serious atmosphere, but it failed. The way the environment was built would distract from the fact that you are pursuing a guy who made red carpet even redder, and also likes to spend his time vacationing in HELL. But aside from the atmosphere dissonance, the building is still a little crap. They are too simple, and there is too little detail. I'm not that great a builder myself, but hey. And the settings for the boss fights were bland. Even the fight in HELL looked a little underwhelming (if you completely ignored the heavily armored stock villain chasing you with a flaming magic sword). Yeah, avoiding lava seemed fun, but it still needed work aesthetically. Maybe some ACTUAL fire? How about neon material? That would be a simple edit.
I give the building a 1/5, as the atmosphere was too lighthearted for that sort of game. If there was more to harmonize everything (childish humor, silly characters), then the rating would be higher.
Scripting and Animations -
The sword animation is... Well, there is an original sword animation The head and arms follow wherever your mouse goes, though, so sometimes you'll be walking with your head hanging, and other times you'll be walking with your head looking up, which breaks immersion, because all of the enemies are the same exact height as the player character. The bosses are pretty well scripted, and the final boss is possibly the best on Roblox, only rivaled by the third Roblox Quest's final boss. Unfortunately, the boss teleporter is flawed. It's set up so that only one person at a time can challenge a boss. It makes the game much longer than it should be, because you're spending your time waiting for someone else to beat the boss so you can finish your quest. Even worse, someone can leave while fighting a boss, which breaks the script and makes it so no one else can go to the boss. The teleport effects are cool, though. Also, the final sword tells you to press v if it doesn't damage the final boss. The creator found a way to fix this, but instead of fixing it permanently, he placed a keybind. Yeah...
I give the scripting a 3.5/5, less than total because of the flaws that have been lazily patched, and the bland animations.
Originality -
I don't think the game is based on or copied from anything, but the story is as bland as a white wall in a white room, and the gameplay is pretty similar to every RPG on Roblox, like, ever. But, again, I don't think this game is copied.
The originality is 2/5, because the story, gameplay, and main villain makes me want to shout "Déjà Vu!"
Help (administration) - You can't contact the creator about a glitch or a bug. I think he fixes things on his own, without bug reports. Either way, there is no administration. Or help, and if there is, there is no way to know who is an admin.
0/5, because there is nothing.
In total, this game gets a 10/ 25 or 2/ 5
This review wasn't intended to hurt anyone's feelings or make people stop playing the game. This review is meant to criticize a piece of work and convince the creator to work harder, or to try something new. Role- Playing games are my favorite genre outside of Roblox, and I'm saddened by the fact that the RPGs on Roblox lack the main thing I loved about my favorite RPG games: an engaging plot, and lovable characters. Yes, the gameplay factors, but that's not enough, especially since I'm prone to getting bored of a game after a while.
But don't try now, I need to beat you all to it. Now, if I figure out how BodyGyro works...
