| Other than adding music to fit the theme and obviously the building itself, what else can be added to make it more atmospheric? |

The amount of space you give the player. If you want them to feel carefree, make it open. If you want them to be paranoid, make claustrophobic areas.

| Sounds that are triggered environmentally, like the player walks past a pillar and you play a screaming noise. |

the skybox, can make quite a difference when used right with fog and dynamic lighting.

You're an artist, so presuming the fact that you should know what colours go with what theme, use colours that fit the theme you're going for, IE for scary, you would use dark colours, black, dark grey, dark navy blue, etc. create a musky and cold sense to it.
also the odd sound of dripping water adds an atmospheric eeriness to stuff ;3
