I'd like it if ROBLOX added Portal Parts. You'd be able to link a surface of the part to the surface of another part of the two surfaces have the same size, creating a portal which you can walk through.
Useful for:
Bigger on the inside structures Non-euclidean geometry
Imagine the possibilities. |

The old teleport blocks are old... but they work in this case. All you need to do is check for when a part of a character touches and change their CFrame. Done. |

If you're talking about being able to see the cool stuff on the other side of the portal, it's technically possible using using local parts and tricky brick/camera placement.
It's not easy, but it looks really cool. |

Surprised that lots of people don't understand...
Also, bumping this...
First of all, this is NOT a teleporter. I'm talking about portals which you can see through, to the other side.
Second of all, scripting it would be laggy. Very. Recalculating the position, possibly casting rays and other stuff for each part to do this EVERY render step is just a big no. Having this on the C side would be very nice.
Third of all, using unions to create portal holes in walls to give the illusion of Portals could work, but you will still have to script for objects such as players and unanchored parts, and there'd be a completely different copy of the room for every portal. |
