When you have like 100 features and haven't tested any of it.
You just have to sort of keep on going if you actually want to finish something, and that's the key to getting games done. If you actually get an idea, you have to push HARD for it.
At one point you're going to have a finished product, people are really going to enjoy it and are excited for it, and you've got something complete to be a little proud of.

| i build games for my enjoyment. so if i stop working on a game it means i stopped getting enjoyment either from code that constantly breaks or features that are too difficult to implement. I have experience both. I can never seem to complete a game that works the way I want it to without having to debug 100000 times. |

'When you have like 100 features and haven't tested any of it.' Story of my life.
Testing small things are easy, but when you make something big you just get too lazy to test everything (admin commands system in my case, and anything else that was "big"). |

@sensei
Do you think I'm doing something interesting or something?
Right now I have some very tedious work. The game is going to end up being maybe 2k or 3k lines or more, which isn't all that much but as I said, it's tedious.
The AMOUNT of features is just overbearing.
I promised a full-functioning prey & AI system and it's a pain in the ass and I don't really want to make it.
I promised a pets system.
I promised so damn much.

yeah I stopped coding a lot over this summer (past two and a half months basically) I wrote like 2.5k lines total, which isn't very much at all. |

I probably wrote 10K lines across 4 different languages, not as much as a typical summer where I definitely reach well passed 20K. Ofc. this includes rewriting scripts to make it more readable and efficient since I don't always plan out my scripts. |

I've written maybe 3k or 4k or something like that.
I did quit for a while, and wasn't doing much, though I did some Python and am doing C now.
Also, I was on hiatus for like 6 months when I didn't code in Lua since February.
I'll probably write a lot of C code soon. I'm on structures right now and am going through in.

| C is such a small and beautiful language. Who cares if it's outdated, it's still probably the best way to learn about computers (learning C and x86 at the same time is what I did, eventually I'll go on to z80 Asm so I can program in Assembly on my TI-84 calculator). |

I'll maybe learn C++ since I do understand OOP decently from PHP/Java and I'll know C.
I was playing around with malware development in Python but now I realize that it's just so stupid to do in Python, and inefficient file size wise.
Also should help with reverse engineering and moving forward with that.
I was about to say I was going to try to do some C programming tonight but it's already 2:30 AM. Time flies.

"Also, I was on hiatus for like 6 months when I didn't code in Lua since February." and then you come back to be greeted by a bunch of lua skids who are up-to-date with the api and think they're top tier experts
"Ofc. this includes rewriting scripts to make it more readable and efficient since I don't always plan out my scripts."
U MEAN U DONT MAKE FLOW CHART B4 EVERY PROGRAM????

Oh god, flowcharts. Silly of the Wiki to suggest that.
Should you know the functionality you want to implement, and know what you want to do and in what order (more in general not just Roblox)? Absolutely.
But god I don't think anyone seriously actually flowcharts the specific control flow of their programming unless it's something super complex, do they?

"eventually I'll go on to z80 Asm so I can program in Assembly on my TI-84 calculator)." The only reason I haven't done this yet is because I don't have a TI calculator. They only have like ~20KB of RAM :O
"I'll probably write a lot of C code soon. I'm on structures right now and am going through in." If you want something cool to do buy an Arduino starter kit. You'll also learn some electrical stuff too but iirc the author of the book is damn stupid and messed up a lot of explanations. Still decent to play with though. |

"Oh god, flowcharts. Silly of the Wiki to suggest that." About 20 years ago and before programmers were typically required to do this. When they used punchcards for output it was expensive to have processed. |

I was going to try some Arduino stuff but:
1.) I have like $0 on me in real life so buying supplies isn't really an option. 2.) I'm pretty terrible at anything involving hardware.

then now is a great time to learn but no really, it's not hard at all
but yeah it is like $60, I wanted to build a Quadcopter but BowtieMod told me his was $600. Thought you were cashing out from DevEx anyhow?

Just make a "Beat the obby and get minecraft!", and when you release it add [FIXED] to the first line = #Profit
This includes rewriting scripts to make it more readable and efficient since I don't always plan out my scripts. [2] ^ I did that 3-4 times... :/ |
