because, whenever you do any sort of work (or expel energy into the universe) you create entropy. Entropy, due to the second law of thermodynamics, will eventually lead to the complete equality of temperature in our universe. Meaning, everywhere it will be the same temperature. This won't allow change which will basically be the end of the universe. Being lazy and doing as little as possible, releases less entropy into the universe.
so now you have an excuse not to do anything :D |

yes it is, but entropy will still eventually lead to the complete equilibrium of heat
because the second law of thermodynamics states that if energy can, it will spread out evenly |
