Anyone done benchmarking to see how much material effect performance?
I have FilteringEnabled on and I want players with craptops and tablets to still be able to enjoy the game.
I feel like even at graphics setting 1, there's more you can do.
So I thought it would be extremely simple to allow players to turn all the materials to SmoothPlastic.
Anything else?

| Union as much as possible, try not to use loops, keep script performance % as low as possible. |

Well I'm not stupid, I know how to script, but I never have used Script Performance. My scripts are pretty damn efficient.
I mean things building wise.
We might be able to CSG some off.

If you knew how to script you wouldn't have so much lag in your game.

Holy crap kid you're a moron.
You're not a good scripter.
I've been doing this for years longer than you.
The problem with performance is all from smooth terrain.
Do me a favor and just get out.
You're jealous because I'm actually successful, and you haven't done jack.

Lol okay kid. Get mad at me for calling you out. You obviously have plenty of insecurities that you try to hide. It funny how you try to claim I know nothing about scripting. The fact of the matter is, you know nothing about me. But I know everything about you. And from what I can tell, your just a skid who thinks hes some sht. Get your head out of your ass.

Insecurities about WHAT? You are not even good at scripting. All you do on this forum is flame with garbage.
You don't know what the word "skid" means.
What exactly do you know about me?
What exactly do you know about my scripting?
You need to get off Scripters.

going to be honest, you seriously bash threads around here more than trying to help other people @time
not saying you're a bad scripter (as i haven't seen your projects) |

It's funny because if anyone remembers when he came to Scripters today, he'd be the one bashing on his own threads.

I never get mad on the forums. It's quite possible to spew a 5 page essay on why someone's a moron while remaining calm.

Also, all the scripting is the efficient part.
The smooth terrain is what's bad and this means I have to do everything I can building-efficiency wise.

"And this is why I don't use smooth terrain"
It actually looks really nice, but there's just not much that can be done.
We've tried StreamingEnabled, but it's just not customizable enough. And it looks AWFUL. The map is very big and it just looks like garbage.
Now a custom chunk loading system is not a possibility at the moment.

| StreamingEnable loads in as much as your computer can handle. If it loads only a little, then your computer just sucks too much to load that much smooth terrain at a stable frame rate. |

Yeah I know, but I think some players might prefer lower FPS over how awful it looks when you can't really see anything.

Or not use Terrain altogether. Problem solved.
