Rap:
It's been twenty-two long hard years of still struggling Survival got me bugging, but I'm alive on arrival I peep at the shape of the streets And stay awake to the ways of the world cause shit is deep A man with a dream with plans to make cream Which failed; I went to jail at the age of fifteen A young buck selling drugs and such who never had much Trying to get a clutch at what I could not touch
Rock:
Bicycle bicycle bicycle I want to ride my bicycle bicycle bicycle I want to ride my bicycle I want to ride my bike I want to ride my bicycle I want to ride it where I like |

Commander Keen.. get it? ( ゚ヮ゚)ap:
Here to tell you the truth, tell you I'm nervous Tell you my story, tell you I'm worth it Tell you my flaws and my faults and my doubts Give you my heart and what's left of it now Tell you my hurt, tell you my pain Tell you the thoughts I keep trapped in my brain Tell you that nothing's the same Tell you I'm nothing much more than a man And tell you I fear I may never find love Tell you I'm getting in touch with above And right now can't deny that I'm scared All this music I wrote won't compare or warrant the buzz Alone in my room, dissecting each line that I rhyme I don't know how I finished on time Missed the drop date three times, I know that I let you all down Well I was the first in that line so |

"Cemetry Gates" lyrics THE SMITHS LYRICS "Cemetry Gates"
A dreaded sunny day So I meet you at the cemetery gates Keats and Yeats are on your side
A dreaded sunny day So I meet you at the cemetery gates Keats and Yeats are on your side While Wilde is on mine
So we go inside and we gravely read the stones All those people all those lives Where are they now? With the loves and hates And passions just like mine They were born And then they lived and then they died Seems so unfair And I want to cry
You say: "ere thrice the sun done salutation to the dawn" And you claim these words as your own But I've read well, and I've heard them said A hundred times, maybe less, maybe more
If you must write prose and poems The words you use should be your own Don't plagiarise or take "on loans" There's always someone, somewhere With a big nose, who knows And who trips you up and laughs When you fall Who'll trip you up and laugh When you fall
You say: "ere long done do does did" Words which could only be your own And then you then produce the text From whence was ripped some dizzy hoe, 1804
A dreaded sunny day So let's go where we're happy And I meet you at the cemetery gates Oh Keats and Yeats are on your side
A dreaded sunny day So let's go where we're wanted And I meet you at the cemetery gates Keats and Yeats are on your side But you lose because Wilde is on mine |

| but rock lyrics are generally unimportant and are usually there to accentuate the lyrics while rap primarily depends on lyricism.... |

I personally like all forms of music pretty much. There are plenty of rap songs out there with really stupid/simple lyrics that are on the radio every day.

@John
Well duh, rock is primarily the instruments. Without them you wouldn't have rock.
Needless to say, there are many rock songs with deep or complex lyrics. |

Anyways, if your gonna compare rap to rock then you might as well compare apples to oranges.
Theres good rap artists out there like coolio, snoop dogg and eminem. And theres also good rock bands out there like disturbed, ozzy osbourne and avenged sevenfold. There are also dumb rap artists, like necro, and bad rock bands.
Rock without lyrics is music, rap without lyrics is just a beat. |

| I don't really like hip hop, but I like older hip hop especially old-school hip-hop. My favorite hip hop songs are "Rapper's Delight" by The Sugarhill Gang and "The Message" by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. |

Wake Me Up When September Ends - Greenday
Prayer of the Refugee - Rise Against ( More punk than rock, but close enough )
Pretty much any song by rise against
So Far Away - Avenged Sevenfold |

"Wake Me Up When September Ends - Greenday"
that song sucks ass and the lyrics are awful though
"Prayer of the Refugee - Rise Against ( More punk than rock, but close enough )
Pretty much any song by rise against"
rise against sucks though and none of their lyrics are intelligent
"So Far Away - Avenged Sevenfold"
>Avenged Sevenfold >intelligent lyrics >let alone even remotely good
