Chapter 1.
1.0 Where and how to train When you're first starting out finding a good training partner and a training place is essential to hone your skills. Most people prefer to train at BenBonez RCL battlegrounds; but if that's not your thing you can certainly face off against bots or at aiming targets just to get the feel for the mouse movement and reload speeds etc.
1.2 Finding a training partner In my experience practicing with a friend is the SINGLE best way to get better at RCL. Most people want to be trained by some of the best, reasonable as it may seem this may not be your best option. Not disagreeing on the fact that training with very good people will get you results, but training with someone just above your skill level is ideal because:it shows more results, and builds more confidence in your skills. Confidence in your skills is also a very important aspect, the better you feel you are the better it is that you preform.
Chapter 2.
2.0 Basic skills Now most of the people reading this should know the basic skills required to succeed in RCL, and RCL like games but in case you don't here they are (more on how to get these or better them later on)
1-Decent aim 2-Decent dodge 3-A good attitude (for you you egomaniacs out there) 4-Confidence (not ego)
2.1 Finding a good screen configuration Finding a good screen configuration is essential to excelling at RCL. Some players use minimized screen (generally helping with mqc/cqc) most use normal screen (all around good). The biggest part is finding what works for you I can't tell you exactly what to use as everyone is different, but I can tell you that you can only find the best one through Trial and error. Once you find a good configuration that accentuates what you're good at LEAVE IT. By leave it I mean don't play with the configuration too much or you will never be able to get good at it. (He who knows many trades is a master of none)
Chapter 3.
3.0 Improving accuracy The most sought after skill of any good fighter is his/her accuracy, It is also one of the hardest to improve and can be discouraging at best of times when you are learning. My advice to you is practice, practice, practice. Also try not to get bummed out as the accuracy will come.
3.1 Accuracy Tips Below are some accuracy tips that can help develop a good solid base on which to build your aim off of.
1-Look at your target This may seem obvious but you would be surprised how many players don't actually focus on their target
2-MarkCWindows fix This helped me, it makes the mouse ratio 1:1 which is easier to adapt to when aiming
3-Learn how people move this will help you get used to how they move and how you cna aim to stay with them and deal more damage
4-Practice Practice, practice, and more practice is the key to success.
(this section will be updated periodically)
3.2 Offsite accuracy training Some good sites that can help you master your mouse and keyboard skills are: (note search these in google)
1- Aimboosters 2- aim400kg
(this will also be edited periodically)
Chapter 4.
4.0 Tactics You can have all the accuracy and dodging skills in the world but without this key component you are missing a lot of your potential. Some people believe raw skill is responsible for winning matches; although this is true to an extent you can improve and win more using tactics.
4.1 How to win using tactics There is no set of rules on how to act during a match, but a few key basics that can help you develop and adapt to different situation are listed below. Keep in mind to find out what your opponent is weak at and use it against them, also try to defend your weak points. For example if you are strong at the cave in bricktops try to drive the match to that area.
1-Don't rush unless you are leading by a large amount of health
2-Long shotting is a good way to drain your enemy before they reach you giving you an advantage when things get close
3-Don't do the same thing every time, your opponent is bound to notice and will catch on to you.
4-popshotting Although not the most admirable of tactics it certainly is effective against a rush
Chapter 5.
5.0 Better dodging Dodging is important and can decide the difference between winning and losing. Try to switch up your dodge just when your opponent figures it out (always keep the guessing). Another tip is don't hold the space bar it makes you way to easy to hit. The best dodge for most people is a 321 tempo One jump every 2-3 seconds switching your direction each time (don't do right/left right/left do sideways backwards etc)
5.1 Dodging for accuracy Believe it or not your dodge does effect your accuracy. It is shown that walking with less dodges greatly improves accuracy and spinning can help you keep your aimer where you need it.
