How is Slipknot NOT metal? Have you no ears? The same goes for most of Avenged Sevenfold's stuff. I understand Papa Roach and the like are Alt Rock/Alt Metal, but the two bands I mentioned beforehand BLEED metal.

maybe it's because both of those bands are bad anyway and dont deserve to be associated with bands like opeth or whatever

They aren't bad, you just don't like them. That's fine.

Even if a band is bad that doesn't change if it's metal or not. Slipknot is alternative/nu metal. It is what it is.

@sang
you mean distortion? electric guitars are used even by pop artists, they're just guitas powered by electricity
even so a lot of grunge/hard rock bands use distortion |

some grunge bands are considered metal, because grunge is a scene and not a genre

you could call it a scene but honestly a lot of other people consider it a subgenre of rock, but that argument is useless because a lot of other genres of rock still use distortion and that was the point I was trying to make

That's nothing compared to bands like RATT not being on there, or Deep Purple being on there yet having no MC5. I think the greatest crime is having Ghost (B.C.) on there before the releases of their newer songs on their newest album.
