because bad file format, bad version string ? it did this with a whole bunch of other meshes and textures i tried to use |

I haven't worked with MeshContentProvider before but I assume it only accepts mesh assets because of it's name.
rbxassetid://56844178 is an image, which ended up as bad file format
Remove all images you're using and try only with meshes. Tell me if you're still getting the error.
Also why are you using MeshContentProvider? I'm not sure of it's exact behavior but I'm quite sure ContentProvider is more powerful and useful.

| well i was changing Mesh.MeshId and Mesh.TextureId from a "Mesh" instance to valid textures and meshes and it was giving me the errors anyways |

Oh well weird. Shouldn't have caused this error if they were valid meshes and images.
