What about the idea of closing your own thread?
Why? This might be useful for places such as the Help forum. If you post something that gets a lot of attention and it's already been solved, I doubt you'd want to keep gettimg spam from it. Or perhaps you post an idea here that, after posting, you realize it's a bad idea?
This might also be useful in the case of a flame war breaking out. The owner of the thread could just close it.
By closing (To be more specific), I mean stopping replies. If people come across the thread they can still read it, but they just can't reply. |

| This is a good idea, especially if you're posting rules or guidelines on the forum, and don't want people to reply. However, you might make the post, then think of something later that you want to add on. So you add it on, then close the thread as soon as you're sure that you have everything down. Of course, then you might want the option to open it up again for some reason. |

And that's a problem, how? We should still be able to see the thread. |

It's a problem because people to understand that if you suggest a suggestion to the public, you need to expect criticism.
By closing the thread, no one can point out flaws in the suggestion. People learn from their mistakes, you see. |

Most of this "criticism" is constant insulting. I doubt people deserve that for posting an idea that they later regret. |

But yeah, that logic can be used with the "Do not allow replies to this post". I could post the worst idea on ROBLOX, and just check that box; No one can reply.
No one can point out the flaws in that suggestion. |

The problem is that most of these posters don't regret their ideas and actually believe that their incredulous suggestion is not inefficient or fatuously thought out in any way.
My first thread on S&I? It was to fight spam with MORE spam titled "spam this to clear out the comments section and fight spam!!".
If people regret their post then they need to sit back, let the flame war die down, and let the thread DIE. Otherwise people will keep posting because they truly believe in their suggestion. |

Support. Roblox really needs to do this. I've suggested this myself before.

Bad luck for them, I guess.

Then a giant flame war where both sides are being stubborn won't change that.
"If people regret their post then they need to sit back, let the flame war die down, and let the thread DIE. Otherwise people will keep posting because they truly believe in their suggestion."
Or...There could be the option to simply stop replying; Stopping all flame wars, stopping all the insulting, and making people stop being able to "support" that idea.
Even if this was a real problem, I don't believe it's worthy of being the blockade of this being allowed, which could be a lot more useful if it was added. |

Or...you could just let the thread die. Unless someone necrobumps that idea(the chances of that are low), you wouldn't have to worry about the thread again. There's no point in this update. |

I've seen threads almost a year old be bumped. It's not unlikely that a thread full of flame war, just for the sake of a troll to continue this flame war, will be bumped. |

We both have an argument, but it all goes down to how we're too stubborn to admit whether or not it's unlikely or not that an old post would be necrobumped by a troll.
So I just wanted to end it with a clip from the Lorax, m'kay? |

Even if it wasn't likely, the point is that it can still and will happen, and this will prevent it.

| The point is that while it can still happen and will happen, it will happen very few times, hence this update being pretty pointless. |

It has happened a lot, and will continue to happen.
Of course, this isn't the only use of this update. Posting an idea on this forum, and it turns out to be bad; You get a bunch of verbal abuse from everyone. You realize the update was bad, but when you say it, you just get more verbal abuse, and more people having flame wars.
Obviously, you wouldn't want your forum to stay there, and letting it "die" isn't very much of an option. |

| ^Again, you could still let the forum die. It's not hard to go to a different page on the ROBLOX website. |
