if C++ or C# then I think C# would be better, I remember me trying to learn it, it was a lil easier than JavaScript to me... although I still haven't mastered C# :/ and yes, Unity has 2D...

love is good but hard to work with when animating i think unity is better for games with animations. (i.e. player walking) roblox was written in c++ but c# is easier to learn both can bend to your will more than lua though

I don't recommend Unity. I prefer CryEngine (Supports flowcharts, Lua, and C++).

If your looking for an easy one then try C#, with C# you can easily convert lua to C#. If your looking for an advanced but more universal language go with C++. Also Unity is not great for beginners but once you learn the basics I highly recommend the usage of unity. Unity uses its own console that makes game creating take up less GBs to make a game which in turn gives the game less lag. Plus Unity is well rounded if you ever want to convert your game from pc to mac, linux or even iOS :)

plus unity isnt like a custom dll thingy it has actual libraries for code to run and make things actually happen

Don't get me wrong LUA is a professional programing technique as well. But no games use it any more (Besides roblox and Gmod) because its lack of control over games. Roblox has turned lua into its own kind of code though with every new terrain and command adjustment lol.

My first tutorial series I watched on C# was from Jonathan Weinberg. His series was so well put together and helped a lot in my path to C#. Just found the name of the video again:
c# Unity3D Tutorial Series #01 - Player Movement
