with the "release" (if you can call it that) of AMDs mantle, hopefully directX will be obsolete.

good to hear, i hope microsoft doesn't make the same mistakes they did with IE
i'm only upgrading to windows 10 because it's free and there are some pretty nice added features that are appealing to me. if there was no free upgrade however I wouldn't pay a penny for it, I don't really care about W8's metro UI because I use classic shell anyways, I can't even remember the last time I've seen a W8 start screen
as long as no one's using XP anymore (or vista yuck), everyone will be fine regardless of OS
the one thing I don't like about W10 though is how they're forcing automatic updates and there's no way to opt out of them. I always find it annoying when Windows prompts me to update every two days and it gets really annoying having to wait for it to update so often

IE has moved most of its development offshore (or as far as I know, I could be completely incorrect) so we'll see what kind of horrifying bugs arise.
the free upgrade is actually what turned me away the most, if a product is free, reconsider if you're the consumer or the product.
the automatic updates is a bit unnerving, also the fact that the malware protection cannot be permanently disabled (which I understand is a bad idea, but nonetheless, the user should have the choice to remove it) |
