are supporting bernie sanders
how is socialism "hip" among teens? do teens really agree with sanders' liberal ideology of "it's all the big greedy corporations' faults" and "let's raise taxes to give to poor people and promote more dependency."
i just don't get it |

To be fair, socialist practices are 'hip' among many students because of high college tuition. Before Reagen's tax cuts (which cut taxes by an insane amount), the Federal treasury had a lot more money to spend. As such, many cuts were given to students, primarily in the realm of tuition. That's why many people from awhile back can say 'I paid for my own college tuition' because it was actually affordable.
When Bush Sr. tried to run for office under his 'no new taxes' quota, he actually had to RAISE taxes because of how little the Fed had. Fact of the matter is that many people suppport higher taxes because of these services, that, in fact, many students need to establish themselves for the future. Its not that its promoting dependency, but being proactive when it comes to securing giant debts for the future.
And furthermore, it's almost necessary that some amount of help is given to the poor. Without help, it's been shown that crime goes drastically up (take a look at detroit) and it's overall much worse. We've been paying for the poor for a long time through Medicaid for a long time now and through other methods such as funding initiatives towards shelters and foodbanks, our taxes don't go directly to through cash-fundings, but rather city projects that are beneficial to the whole.
Socialism isn't all that bad, nor is capitalism. America has always been a mix of both.

| He wants 90% tax on the rich, I think it should be a flat 20% across the board. Everyone pays the same percentage. |

@dev
Not having graduated income taxes is stupid, we'd literally be going back in time.
-- Also, incase people didn't know, Eisenhower had a 92% tax rate in the 1950s, and right now, the marginal highest tax rate (39.6%) is hardly ever paid because of tax-write offs and loopholes. ~am a cat meow~ |

| Crak, if you're a billionaire, you're not going to stick around for a 90% tax rate, or even a 50% tax rate. You'd just declare yourself a resident of Singapore and laugh to yourself on your giant pile of money. |

""Reagen's tax cuts"

what are you confused or something. reagen curbed taxes from 50% to 28% and gave most families tax cuts after cutting down the tax bracket through the tax reform act of 1986
this is like US Pol 101 i'm not spewing out liberal media that is something that happened.

i heard britain is worse
loads of working class people cant go to university now because the government is turning living grants (what uni students need to feed themselves and survive over the course of their tuition) into loans
add that onto the cost of tuition fees and various other loans and its easy enough to get the picture that some working class people might be better off not going |

| If the tax goes to 90% other countries will offer smaller taxes to rich people, they will move their business and themselves to that country. |

also just so people know, corporations are already being moved out of america, taxes wont make a difference.
outsourcing has been a thing in tech/manufacturing companies for years. people wont 'move their corporations out' because there's still a profit to be made. whether or not all of their funds will be disclosed is another story. half of the income in the united states held by the wealthy isnt held in america in the first place, and it's held offshore or in trust accounts by international conglomerates (incase of super wealthy CEOs) so people saying that they will 'leave the country' are stupid. most of the money held by the super rich who would be marginally taxed this high dont show their money and go through tax evasion anyway.

| Alright, if that's the case, why both to raise the taxes then? You'd merely hurt the honest wealthy for their honesty. |
