I got bored so I decided to compare two genres that people either love or hate. I'm being fair on both genres and I will be generalising on this.
Deathcore Vocals: usually pig squeals, screaming, growling and gang shouts. Death Metal Vocals: growling and vocal frys.
Deathcore Lyrical content: Gore and personal issues. Death Metal Lyrical content: Gore, Satanism, and religion.
Deathcore Style of play: Blast beats, breakdowns, palm muting and tremolo picking and distorted, low tuned guitars. Death Metal Style of play: Palm muting, tremolo picking, guitar solos, blast beats and distorted, low tuned guitars.
In my opinion their pretty even genres, Deathcore has better vocal techniques while Death Metal has better lyrical content and they are pretty even wise in their style of play (however I do think generally Death Metal takes more talented guitar playing than Deathcore). So all in all i'd choose Death Metal.
Opinions on these genres? |

| I'm not really into either of them but I will say overall death metal is probably better just because there are proven, "good" death metal acts and there aren't any recognized deathcore bands as of right now. |

| There aren't flagship deathcore bands people respect or acknowledge outside of deathcore fans. |

there's a fairly large percentage of stereotypical metalheads who listen to stuff like metallica and pantera that also listen to entry level dxc

also yes there are popular dxc bands Suicide Silence, Whitechapel, Thy Art Is Murder, The Acacia Strain, Attila, Emmure, Chelsea Grin, Carnifex, and Job For A Cowboy are all huge

| I don't like both tbh, but death metal's sub-genres can be amazing. |

just go on ifunny and find the MHN group of kids. they'll most likely tell you that they enjoy/can tolerate anything in the deathcore genre

| The only don't like about deathcore is how easy it is to play. You could literally have no experience with guitars and be able to play deathcore on one. |

"nah" oh yeah, Fronz only has a networth of 1 million+ bc they're popular in the deathcore scene i mean, a lot of his profits are from Stay Sick and Spur, but Attila are very popular with regular scene kids and the whole Warped Tour crowd same with Suicide Silence, who are also popular with mainstream metalheads now, along with TAIM and Whitechapel, seeing as they've all been on Mayhem Festival either this year or last year

Again they're popular within the deathcore fanbase and some "metalheads" who keep up with modern acts but they don't really have an impact outside of those two subgroups.
The only fans of Suicide Silence and Attila I've seen are self-professed "metalheads" who exclusively listen to deathcore and other scene stuff. I haven't seen the average music listener just bump deathcore out of the blue. |

| For the record I'm not saying this because I dislike deathcore. I'm really into The Contortionist |

" there aren't any recognized deathcore bands as of right now."
in the mainstream, suicide silence is definitely huge. at their peak they were more popular than all other deathcore bands combined pretty much. 44 million views is nothing to laugh at.
in the elitist metal communities, all shall perish, veil of maya, rings of saturn, and born of osiris all get some attention.

melodeath is soooo good

are attila even deathcore any more? like rage and outlawed were deathcore-y but about that life was lighter and guilty pleasure was pretty much purely metalcore mixed with rap metal

my favorite bands are soilwork, arch enemy, machine head, trivium, and the agonist (none of them even remotely scene) and i like some deathcore. not very much, but some.

"The vocals are well, crap, especially the male ones." -metal archives review of the agonist |

Rage and Outlawed were more metalcore in my opinion.
The other later two were deathcore but with rapcore in it. |

death metal is a favourite of mine, but i respect deathcore as it (to me) is the new face of the sub-genre.
