No taking items from further progressed accounts or cheats. (Strategys don't count as cheats).
Thanks! |

| I dunno about Expert mode, but in normal mode, I just used a Space Gun with full Meteor armor. Bring some health regeneration and health potions, and you're set. I actually finished the fight with max HP. |

Use magic. Melee is absolutely useless because his defense is through the roof.
Really though I think Hell Bats are OP in expert. It went from challenging to just annoying and frustrating when I got to hell. |

I've beat him easy on normal, I'm talking about EXPERT only.
I've been to hell (although can't access shadow chests until after Skeletron) and what magic do you advise? |

| I fought him like I fought the wall of flesh. Get magic and keep running in the opposite direction you came from, while attacking |

do these people have no idea how to play terraria
flatten out the terrain next to and on top of the dungeon
place 5-6 campfires, evenly spaced apart
use any potions or buffs that fit your build
shadow/crimson armor is fine, but depending on your build you might wanna use jungle/meteor armor
the minishark/space gun are the best ranged and magic options, and beenades are the best consumable options
melee options include whatever yoyo is at your tier, the phaseblade/blade of grass, and the flamarang
also consider the imp staff |

@jonny, Didn't mention flattening the ground because that's common sense these days.
Didn't think about campfires or buffs though. |

later on a world on expert someone chopped all the trees and used them to place all these
campfires so that everywhere you go in it you have the health regen bonus for being near a campfire. |

in this fight your very best friends are your shield of cthulu and your hermes boots in this fight. the only way your gun survive is with magic or ranged attacks. melee is pretty useless here.
build a long arena with 3-5 levels. place down some campfires, heart lanterns, and a honey pool for good measure. if you'd like, build a house for the nurse and the dryad out of platforms, because the dryad's AoE attack is kind of useful here, and the nurse can instantly heal you.
there are a wide range of weapons you can use here. you can use the minishark, but with the increased armor it's pretty useless unless you have meteor bullets and a shark tooth necklace. CohhCarnage did it on his first try with full meteor armor and a laser pistol, so if you're good at dodging go with that. You could also use the bone throwing knives and bone javelins. they are very good for this fight.
now for the fight itself. remember to take your potions, ironskin, regeneration, endurance, and sashimi or a bowl of soup for the well fed buff. talk to the guy to spawn skeletron and get on you're arena.
you want to wittle his hands down, because if his hands are alive his skull has to much defense to make a dent in his health. when one hand is dead, he will start shooting skulls at you that home in on you, and when the second hand is gone he shoots more skulls at you, so try to wittle his hands down and kill them at the same time to reduce the time he is shooting the skulls.
this is optional, but during this first phase the skull has a lower defense when he does the spinning attack, so take that into account.
once the hands are gone, he will have a much lower defense. dodge and weave around the skulls shooting at you and keep hitting the skull with whatever you've got. remember the little skulls he shoots home in on you in a spiral, so if they go off screen they might come back at you.
there you go. i would recommend full cheese mode on this one, because for some reason skeletron is harder than a lot of the hardmode bosses. |

Thanks for some of the advice! I'll try it out when my companion for Expert gets online.
Still taking more advice, this boss is harder than the Twins, Destroyer and Prime combined! |
