"Overpopulation isn't gonna be our problem!"
Anyways, so, this thread actually has no purpose other than listing reasons why you, an OT'er, are never getting married.
Mine include: 1. I want to have full control over my life (I want to be freeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~). 2. I hate living with other people. 3. I don't want to have kids. 4. It's expensive. 5. Weddings look really awkward and uncomfortable. 6. If I feel lonely I can invite my parents, friends, siblings or siblings'/friends' kids to my house. 7. I don't have to spend my entire life worrying about whether or not my significant other is going to die. 8. I can be selfish because I won't have anyone depending on me! |

"that's if marriage even exists in the future"
"future" As in, like 10 years from now...? I mean, I know the number of people getting married is decreasing, but that doesn't mean that marriage won't exist. I mean, if we don't have marriage, how will the human race continue on? |

I'm halfway to becoming a level 0 MGTOW at this point.
MGTOW = Men going their own way.
We are straight, but we disregard women as anything but someone to talk to at times.
Somehow I'll make a man out of you! |

Everyone here knows that you can be married without a massive, money-eating ceremony, right?

I'm a WGTOW, then.

Yeah. "The average wedding cost in the United States is $26,444. Couples typically spend between $19,833 and $33,055..." Like, geez, you could probably take that and use it as a down payment for a small house if you needed to! Or you could pay for a year of college! |

Well, you don't have to get kids when you're married. I know plenty of married folks who are childless by choice. I mean, I don't want kids either but I'm open for marriage. (Not exactly hyped, but I'm open for it.)
What I like about marriage is that nowadays, it can really be settled by the couple's desires. Things don't have to be traditional anymore which makes the love between the two reflected in a more personal sense, IMO.
If I were to marry a bride in black instead of white, with a real funeral atmosphere to the event. I'd say I'd be an excited man on that day.
But eh, still, I'm not hyped about it. I'll see what I want in the future. No kids though. Ew, lifelong commitment to brats, ew. |

Hey, don't be that way! I'm sure someone loves you!
"Everyone here knows that you can be married without a massive, money-eating ceremony, right?"
True that, but it's still costly to maintain a relationship with someone.
Like, really. You have to pay to go out to dinner, you have to buy roses, you have to buy jewelry, you have to buy presents every year, etc..
As a girl, I probably shouldn't be saying too much about that, but seriously, it's sooooooooo stupid that guys are "obligated" to do all that crap in a relationship. Girls are freaking expensive! Why in the world do most women expect that much in a relationship? |

Yeah, it's kinda nice that things aren't as traditional as they used to, but I still want no part of it.

- weddings are expensive, and who is there even for me to invite? i haven't seen most of my relatives in years, and my friends don't care
- cohabitation is a thing
- don't want to face the event of divorce
- lack of interest in traditional romance e.g. kissing is gross, displaying too much affection is weird, sleeping in the same bed is NO
- when i move out in the near future i'm pretty much going to live with my brother for a while

Frankly, I'm happy to do that (as long as she doesn't look to closely at the jewels in the necklace I bought here hehe). But seriously, when you're married, the money belongs to both of you, so it's not that big of a sacrifice, especially if both people are pulling in income.

My family's a bit different. My dad makes all the money and my mom stays at home and does everything else (cleaning, cooking, taking care of the kids, driving us to our athletic events, paperwork, etc.).
I think part of the reason why I don't want to be married is because of them. |

Yes. Kids are brats. Even as an 11 year old I see that. Their usually spoiled, cruel, and assine. Unless you discipline them like I was, they end up like snobs that push me down at school. |
