i already have my permit (i can post a pic of it here but i don't feel like blocking out all the DL# and my address and stuff) and i'm just trying to finish up driver's ed
i've been driving a little through my neighborhood and the surrounding areas but my parents aren't going to let me drive on main roads/highways until i start driving school, which my parents aren't letting me start either until i finish the drivers ed. which i should be done with by the 2nd or something |

"wait how do you have your permit without drivers ed finished"
after completing 6 units/hours (whatever you want to call them) of drivers ed, you get a certificate of partial completion. you take that along with your social security card, verification of enrollment (you get that from a school counselor's office), two house bills, a passport, and like one or two other things to your nearest department of public safety (warning: you WILL wait like an hour. don't keep yourself bored before you take your permit test, even though it's easy)
you go up to the dude, he asks you questions, you take a vision test, you take your picture, and then you go and pass your permit test, then they give you a temporary permit (it's a piece of paper). they'll mail you the card approximately two weeks later, in which case you should shred that paper
i literally just gave you instructions on a 3-week process |

"gonna finish drivers ed first"
probably a good idea considering your school administrators probably aren't going to be back on campus until early-to-mid august anyway
you need that VOE form |

| i would definitely recommend getting your permit right as soon as school starts though, just because you have to wait 6 months for your license and you can drive the entire 2nd semester by yourself |

yeah we probably might both finish at the same time
i used to procrastinate to do these drivers ed units but honestly they're not even that bad. as long as you pay attention a lot of it is common sense, and if you pay close attention to the video you can answer the quiz question correctly
i can get my drivers ed done by the 2nd/3rd/4th
i'm eligible to get my license on october 18th according to my permit (which is a sunday anyway what the hell LOL) but i'll just wait until the week of thanksgiving or winter break so i'll have more time to get to the DPS and i can meet all the requirements necessary and practice the maneuvers necessary to pass the driving test (like parallel parking and 3-point turns) |

I have a paid internship with the University of Texas next school year but I hope I don't have to do a lot of driving to UT because that would be hell for me
At least second semester (and maybe a little of first semester) I can drive and do my own ish inside the car without my parents telling me otherwise |
