so guys, your rank structure is off.
First, there is no such noble rank as "Lord", it's a style. You're the Lord Ashburton, 10th Baron of Centuria for an example. Not Lord Ashburton, 10th Lord of Centuria. The closest would be baron, as that's the majority of the "Lords" in existence for England, the most typical noble scheme. With that being said, a viscount would rank above a Lord in both situations. :') A viscount is the second rank of the nobility. it goes:
Baron Viscount Earl (England) Count/Marquess/Margrave/Landgrave/Marcher Lord/other specific feudal titles Non-Sovereign Germanic Prince Duke Grand Duke Sovereign Prince's King Emperor
so basically you put a lord, above a viscount which makes no sense
